Fire up the rumor mill

From what I\'ve gathered from local, internet, and GW connected sources, this is what I\'ve got.

Codex Witch Hunters is of course the next codex coming out. With the new SoB in it.

soon (maybe within the next year) GW will be releasing a new 40k starter box, without the 4th ed. rulebook. It will instead include a 10 page \'what 40k is about\' booklet. (this rumor has been confirmed by GW)

The 4th ed. rulebook will be pre-released in late april-early may to all GW retailers, so that they can host \"demo games\" for veteran gamers. (this has also been confiremed by GW)

GW seems to be makeing a move to either drop or completely redo Dark Eldar. (this has not been confirmed)

That\'s what I can find currently. Keep a look out on the Portent.net forums for more 40k rumors, or DakkaDakka (which seems to be the eminator of all rumors 40k)

I don\'t think that really counts as a rumour given that there\'s stuff about it in this month\'s WD :)

sounds interesting :)

From what I\'m told, the book isn\'t actually finished yet, so I\'d be surprised if *anyone* is getting it that soon, GW or not. I guess it\'s possible, but it seems pretty unlikely.

I don\'t know what\'s happening in the rest of the world, but that\'s certainly not the case \'down-under\' - DE make up something like 4% (consistently) of 40k sales but take up the same amount of shelf space as Chaos, so as GW stores always have limited shelf space and are constantly getting new models, they\'re going \'mail-order-only\' for a while to see what happens. Not getting dumped.

cheers

Yeh, they\'re not getting dumped, just put indefinitely on hold and withdrawn from stores, which still sounds pretty grim. I don\'t mind, aside from a few minis, I never liked the range.

I\'ve heard about the early rulebook thing too, though I hear it\'s more just a booklet of the rules changes so GW can ease everyone into the new edition. The rules have pretty much been written for the book, now it\'s mainly art and fluff being done.

Dark Eldar are being replaced by the Hrud (sp.?) Skaven in space basically.

The Hrud were gonna be the original choice for 3rd ed but Dark Eldar got the go ahead instead.

Not that I know too much but the Hrud are basically time travellers (there will be links in their fluff to skaven and warpfire, jezzails etc etc) and will witness the end of the universe when chaos and the imperium wipe each other out.

Wow...so does Dirty Steve no longer work for GW, since he has said on many occasions that Skaven will not appear in the WH40K universe as long as he\'s there?

Hrud? Cool, I guess....though I\'d rather see Squats return.

Huh, I actually remember seeing something about the Hrud in an issue of Troll Magazine a while ago....I\'ll go dig it up.

EDIT: Hahah, it\'s an article on how to convert Hrud using Skaven Jezzails, and Kroot Mercenaries, located in the April 2003 issue. The funniest thing is that at the end of the article, he states \"In closing, be aware that these conversions are not an indication of any official plans to release the Hrud. They are just a cool idea...\" :D

Wrong

There are absolutely no plans for a hrud army. There are just these rumors going around since they\'re mentioned in the fluff often, and everyone expects GW to put out a new race for 40k in this edition. However, a new race is at the very bottom of the list of GWs to dos, and the hrud is a terrible idea anyway.
