Hi guys have just posted my High Elf Hero first attempt at NMM any advice would be massively appreciated.
Tried a few different types of nmm style just to try and practise more than anything.
Pic has come out a little dark struggling with lighting at the moment and camera keeps making things go pinky???

Oh well all hints appreciated.more models on the way soon.

looking good so far. I am sure most other more accomplished nmm painters than myself will tell you that you need to consider the direction of the lightsource when painting nmm.

given the light directions indicated on the jewels you painted it looks almost ontop (perhaps to the left a little) so the shading on the top of the helm is a little misleading (although nothing to do with the actual nmm).

I know squat about photograhy other than i see whitebalance bandied about here quite a lot and it looks ot me that the \'white\' of the background is more of a grey colour.

More light... i need more light cap\'n !

A very nice mini.
The NMM is a little bit to rought on the shield and sword but mutch better then my first NMM.

Did the vote thing.

Voted. I like him. What I try when taking photos is I use a white page as background, as white as possible and then use a photo editing tool and change the colours so as to match the white.

Hope it helps, as for the NMM, I think it\'s good, esp. for a first try, though still not perfectly convincing, probably due to what the others mentioned: light direction.

Pretty darn cool. I gave him an 8 but with better pcttures I\'m sure your score will rise. Didn\'t you have an earlier WIP of him that had a nice shot frm the side?

Cheers guys pics are a bit poor had a better shot on the WIP thread but camera just not playing ball at the moment.
Have got a new camera coming soon.
agree with the comments on the light source need to iron that out. and the roughness on the shield due to 18month old son deciding to ease his teething frustrations on it.grrrrr.
@dan. Depends on which part. What the picture doesn\'t show is there are quite a few differences in the shades as I was using it to \"try out \" the technique.
depending on speed seem to get a quite pleasing result quickly with Citadel Scorched and bestial brown 50/50 Bestial brown , snakebite leather aded into this then bubonic brown finishing with bleached bone in the final stages.Blend each stage in as you go.
however as I said no expert (yet) first attempt.
Again much appreciated guys.

The NMM is really great for a first attempt, AWESOME!!!

The freehand on the shield really is amazing and the only thing that takes away from the mini is the green hair from the back of his helmet, it doesn\'t really fit in with the model, but the rest is great so don\'t sweat it.

Cheers for that - I gotta redo some of my WIP (See my thread) so I\'ll try those colours when I get round to it.
