First commision work

Hi y\'all, may your brushes remain neat and tight, forever :flip:

I\'m about to receive my first commision, for some aquintance, of course. This really gives me a kick, honestly. I know I\'m only a newb and all, but this group of player as seen what I can do for now and they like it, so if I get it right, there will be many more.

Anyway, the subjects in question are a few brets, 5 Questing knight ( Or grail, I\'m not sure.) a King Lionheart on hippogriph and a fey enchantress, neat figs that I\'m really looking forward to painting.
The rate is somewere between low and ludicrous, if you get what I mean, but that\'s only a teaser.

So I\'d like it if you have any tips, time savers
or pointers about how to do nice \'tabletop certified\' minis that normal gamers will be happy with or just want to share some thought about commisions in general.

I\'m honestly into it for the hobby, but that whole commision thing really gives a new purpose for doing it, since I\'m not so much of a gamer, and can\'t aford anything near an army for now.

Congradulations Green One, I don\'t have any tips for you on commision work.

If you are looking to game though, Games Workshop released a Warbands rule set, where you can game with a very low point army. The rules are posted on the GW site, under Warhammer We began a warbands league just today. My game ended in a draw, at turn six. My dwarven warband faught very well against a nasty skaven band.

Yes I know the warband rules, I would need
only a few more Dwarfs to be able to play, I intend to buy them with the commision money
The Brits are in now, and another player added ten Skaven Jezzails and a Screaming Bell...
I got work for weeks now !

First you have to understand heraldry. There are ciolors and metals. White and yellow are metals (and sometimes black) and red yellow blue etc are colors. A color may go on a metal and visa versa but no color on color or metal on metal.

OK so spray black. Do a quick drybrush of all the metal areas.

Now pick you colors and do a various patern on each Knight. IE black red and white. The questing knights get Fluers and the grails get grails. All the horses get white socks (differ so they are unique.) Dont worry about highlights for the horses except fo the manes.

Spend all you extra time on the King. You could also paint the horses beastial brown and leave some black in the shaded areas. All up you would spend 3 hrs per horse and 2 hours for each knight. I would use transfers as well because you only want table top quality.

Confusing ? not at all, you don\'t know how smart I am ...

The guy did not even give me a clue about the desired color scheme... I think fushia will suit him well lol

I\'ll give them a little more work than mentionned, just cause I want to improve as much as I want to get the job done, but these will surely help anyway.
