Odd... a pic with no pimp :D

Did you put it up on the site so we can all have fun rating it as well, or are you just looking for comments?

I think I already voted on this, but I\'m not sure.

It looks pretty good for a first try to me :)
Not bad highlighting, good choice of colours...
Should be a solid 5 at least.

My least favourite part is the wings - they seem a bit flat and boring to me - but there are enough colours on the figure, so maybe just plain white is ok...

My favourite part is probably the red blindfold! I know it\'s only a small area, but the shading and higlighting can be seen wirhour looking too stark - red is a notoriously difficult colour and you did it well.

Also - the flesh looks ok too - I think the bolter looks a bit flat too - could\'ve done with a thin wash.

I think the skin looks pretty good, as do the wings... this is a tiny fig anyhow. The highlighting on the gun, the strap, and ribbon could be smoother.

I\'d say a 6. Above tabletop quality.

First of all, I know from painting this figure the sculpt is just a little...messy, and hard to make look great. I think you\'ve actually done quite a good job. Just focusing on your blending should improve your scores, the transitions, particularly on the straps stand out a little bit too much. Your brush control looks quit good and the paint job is quit clean, so I have no doubt your future works will be even better.

Nice job!

Thumbs up! Very well done, and daring to post such a big photo of the tiny bugger.
The part i like best is the mouth.
The gun could\'ve done with another black wash.
My tuppence.

That\'s pretty good for your first post. It is a tiny fig and you posted a very close-up photo which shows all potential flaws. I have this problem with my pics as well.

Did the vote thing.

A couple of things.
1. Name your mini. If you dont care about it other people wont either.
2. Show the base and make sure the base is done. Even dry brushed sand will score higher than no base.
3. Mould lines. I cannot stress this enough. GET RID OF THEM. It spoils a good paint job.

OK I think everything else has been covered so read a few of the articles and have some fun painting.

BTW welcome to the forums.

Question: Is this the first mini you\'ve posted, the first mini you\'ve painted, or both?

Just curious, is all.

It\'s been pretty much commented on (and by painters much better than me), so I\'ll just say welcome to the boards and keep painting. Voted.

I think it looks great. I\'m also a new painter, and I think part of it is just getting used to the techniques and the fact that there\'s a stage in the paint job where everything looks like hell.

I am just taking models that speak to me on some level (I am finding, much to my husband\'s annoyance, that Rackham REALLY speaks to me and the copious numbers of Warmachine models he already has unpainted don\'t) and trying out different things with them. Some things work, some don\'t. I\'ve been pretty pleased though with the number of things that do work... eventually. :)

But I think that\'s a great start you\'ve got there.

take care

It is hard starting out painting, the figures and artists on the site inspire and terrify you at the same time, well me anyway so good luck and keep painting all my fellow newbies
