First go at Female modelling

As a newbie in this forum and modelling in generel I would like to know if you got some hints on sites for good basig female anatomy. So far I've modelled the base forms of two minis i want to make. as you can see from this blog entry:

I just need som inspiration from the female form, shoulders legs and arms especially . So any tips are welcome :bashful:

best referance for female anatomy is porn, all shapes and sizes, colours (different facial structures from different regions of the world) as well as positions.

when your mum catches you checking it out just blame me, she will understand.

Generulpolaxe is right. There are a few artistic soft porn sites out there which would be ideal for this (ahem..) study

I only know because i stumbled upon them by accident, honestly!:lying:

yeah porn is great. good for modeling as he said. the only problem is you can get caught in the 'porn vortex' where time is experienced differently, what may have felt like ten mins can actually be hours

ROFL guilty as charged. I often like to print out images I use as color reference so I can have them next to my painting table. Luckily I was working on facial tones at the time and all I had to do was crop the male part out of the picture...granted, all I was left with was a face from the nose up, but I only needed the cheeks and eyes really. ;)

I'm going to be the female voice of reason.... :p Domai.com is a good site of just beautiful nude women minus the vulgarity of porn. There are also a TON of listed references on this forum as well (female & Male): http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1813. Just have to throw it out there... you don't HAVE to sculpt female figures with DD size boobs, despite what GW would have you believe :p

is a great resource for artistic nudity. Some pics might be a bit offensive to some though.

But if you want good nude reference pics without any kind of pornography whatsoever (yes, dangly parts do show in some pictures)
Girls and guys in every age and shape. But since they are artistic pictures it is sometimes hard to get a full anatomical view. But there are tons of strange poses.
It is a Swedish site (in Swedish) about photography which is one of my favourites out there.

Thanks this is close to what i wanted, I'm looking for female poses of running, cathching a ball with lifted arms, standing in a threadening pose etc.

Thank to the others for their 'good' ideas :curl-lip:

And I have yet to figure out how I add attached images to a post, the help on this is kind of confusing, how do you do it?

you need to go to User CP > Edit options > Miscellaneous options > Message editor interface and set that to wysiwyg.
then you'll get the option to add images. Just don't add any pictures that break the rules here. :D

i think you should warn people coz i would count that as porn! i wouldn't want to be caught looking at that at work! well not by my boss anyway!

there was a page that had all sorts of poses but i can't seem to find it

do an image search for poses and you get a lot

Hi Amrek, don't want to sound facetious but nothing beats the real thing! ;) Don't you know anyone who'd model for you? Even if it's just while they sit across the table from you eating their tea, or doing the knitting on the couch with their jumper rolled off the shoulder :)

While Domai's "elegant nudes" are NSFW (better safe than sorry!) they're better than just randomly searching for smut. Quite soft poses though. If you want more dynamic stuff what about athletes? Most of them seem to wear skin tight outfits nowadays anyhow. Gymnasts, jumpers, volleyballers, throwers, swimmers. Lots of poses that may help with the more dynamic aspects of Heroic model sculpting.

Just because something is porn doesn't mean all the women have giant knockers. There's all sorts... or so I've heard. Another good site for artistic nudes/soft porn is www.kindgirls.com... or so I've heard. :bashful:

Actually, porn seems to represent more real looking women body-wise than anything else these days it seems, particularly the amateur stuff. I just think it's funny every time I see an elf with huge knockers... really skinny athletic women don't typically have "huuuge tracts of land". Investing in an artist's anatomy book could also be very handy. Dynamic Anatomy and The Elements of Human Anatomy are a couple, but one of my favorites is Atlas of Human Anatomy for Artists. I agree with BPI though, nothing beats the real deal. You may be able to convince a friend (girls are narcissistic whether we admit it or not :p ) to pose for you at least wearing a bathing suit can still help tremendously.
