Quite shite i know but considering it\'s my first i\'m not horribly dissapointed.

I primed white and then did 3 layers of base colour. Did a black ink wash (too thick i think.. i see some pooling) and then 2 shades of highlights. Dry brushed metal on the tubing and vents of the backpack and helmet.

I realize the seams and base arn\'t there but considering i have like 80 crap old models to paint i\'m not concerned about seams and the base will come in time

Great job for a first! Good work with the eyes.

About pooling; pooling generally occurs if you have too much paint on the brush, not always if the paint consistency is too thick or thin..

as a general rule, before applying anything thin like a wash, drag your brush across a paper towel, or your palette, plasticard, whatever, it remove any excess water so you don\'t flood your figure!

Dry brushing should always come first for sure too.

Highlights are well placed, try using more gradual colours or thin thin layers (I go for thin layers but I still suck hehe)

Also it\'s not shite, it\'s art! ^_^ :drunk:

I paint my thumb.
Well, still looks better than my first...

Anyway, a few pointers:

Thin your paints more ( I feel soo original.)

Seriously, all the white spots, wheter holding point scruff or lost bits of paint have to go for sure.

You got a good eye for color, Ilike the contrasting brown on the gun.

When drybrushing, wipe the brush until there seems to be nothing left, then stroke the edges until the highlight builds up, this will avoid leaving chalky chunks of paints everywhere.

Also, pure white is always a doubtful choice for highlights, go for a ligther tone of the base color, beige or brown can do too.

But first of all, remember this has to be done for enjoyment ;)

Well, a good first attempt - welcome to the painting community, fellow marine.

Most important things have been said already, thin paints and careful washes are the most important parts - remember two weak washes look better then one strong one. You might try primig black if you like, it´s the way i prefer, makes it easier to create depth and it is easier to create even tones.

Keep it up

Good for a firstie.

For inks and washes... well, you might consider adding some dishwashing liquid to the paint/ink on your palette - this serves to prevent pooling a little.
