First Mini Here/ Eldar Warlock

Hey all. after about 3 weeks work I finished the first mini i have posted on CMON. I have been a long time lurker and have learned a ton here, but have never posted. So, I decided i should at least try to contribute to a place that has been really helpful and fun. I started a WIP thread a while back and a lot of folks chimed in and really helped me along. It looks like when you submit your photo you are suposed to rate it and i didnt so i think it may have defaulted to a 6. Im not sre how that works. (doh!) At any rate, special thanks to Scottradom, Obsidianpainting, GreenOne and a bunch of other folks who answered my questions and gave me great feedback. Its definitely something I\'ll do again! I had 2 different base ideas, one for display and one or gaming. I liked both, so i poisted both (thanks for the input Scott)

Like the purple and green. It\'s very alien.

Purple is my bogey colour.

Yeah I love it. I do like the smaller base, as discussedm because it doesn\'t take away any focus from the hard work you put into the fig.

Wow score dropped quite a bit since last night!

after looking at all the 8+ eldar warlocks on this sight I hoped it would get and 8. so close! well last night at least.

anyways, this mini was a huge learning experience for me, i tried a lot of techniques that were new to me and am pleased with the results. Looking at it now i can see to make it an 8 things might have to be generally a tad smoother.

Im not sure if the potograph made a difference but next photo i take ill be using a light box! it just hasnt arrived yet.

im not sure whats next, got a couple good minis and a brand new set of vallejo game color i havent evn used yet.

Hi.
Your paint control is great, but to me the colours don\'t work, I\'d have gone for more neutral robes and lavished more attention on the details, like all his equip. This would also have made the helm stand out as the focus of the fig.

FWIW I think high 7s/low 8s is about right.

Paintwork\'s a definite 8 in my book but the score is for the whole mini.

forget the score, if you learned from it, and enjoyed the process and the results then that\'s what counts.

besides, the gw crowd is a tough one as they like to see the colour schemes as dictated by the studio and fluff.
