First mini in new Dwarf Army...

As I mention in the comment, this is my first mini in over a decade. I\'m also not much of a photographer. It\'s just sitting on the kitchen table. However, I\'m very much interested in comments, tips, and feedback. I\'d love to improve.

Since taking these photos, I\'ve nearly finished the rest of the warriors unit. I\'m saving the command unit \'til last. I\'ll take some pics of the entire unit and put them up as soon as I can.

Thanks again for any comments. And I\'m pretty thick-skinned so please feel free to be honest!

Very nice job. Real neat and smooth. The only thing I would comment on is the eyes look like cat eyes. Rounder centers.

Thanks, Shawn! =)

I see what you\'re saying about the eyes. I think I need to do them first so I can futz with them \'til they look exactly how I want without fear of mucking up the rest of the face. Good comment.

I\'m still getting a feel for my paints. I\'m using all GW paints and experimenting with how much to water them down for base coating and for glazing/juicing. I\'m also painting over black primer. Think I might go for white with the next unit. The black is fine, I guess. I think it leads to an overall \'darker\' model and I\'m not sure I like it for these little guys.

Anyway... I\'m enjoying the challenge! Thanks again.

Eyes..........uggg. I kinda gave up on doing good eyes. Way too small for me. Good luck on yours. There should be an article on them.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Ritual, I tried your Bleached Bone suggestion and LOVE it. I did a bunch of the jerkins last night and they turned out awesome. SO much easier to blend up highlights than with the straight white.

I should have the rest of the rank and file done tomorrow night. Then I\'ll do the command unit. They still aren\'t the best models, but I plan on spending some time on them.

Thanks again, all. =)

Ok, I said I\'d post pics of the rest when I got them painted up. I\'ve completed all the rank and file warriors and will start on the command unit now. I\'m afraid I\'m not much of a photographer but hopefully there\'s enough there to generate some advice on how I can improve.

At this point I honestly think the best thing for me is just to paint a bunch of miniatures. I\'ve learned so much from reading articles (even the photography ones, heh heh) but I certainly haven\'t been able to incorporate everything yet, let alone master anything.

Also, I took two sets of pics. One is just on a table. The other is on a black t-shirt. I\'d also be interested in hearing which set up works best. I\'m moving in April and won\'t work on a photo setup \'til we\'re all moved and settled.

Anyway, thanks again and I\'ll put any unit stuff for this army project in the WIP forum from now on.

Thank! =)
