If we\'re talking about any minis then for me it would be Airfix ACW, about 1960 I think. Yes, really that long ago!

The first metals were Napoleonics, c1971.
The first of the \'modern\' era metals was a GW Bretonnian Sorceress Dec 1997 when my kids got into the whole wargaming thing. Theyu got the boxed WHFB set for Xmas and the lady was for my 5 year old daughter who didn\'t want to be left out - awwwwwwwwww
That was also the first of the figures to be painted, and we still have it

Does anyone remember the 80\'s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon series? That was the first time I heard of D&D and I loved the idea, so when I stumbled onto the local games shop in town (I\'d never seen the place before for some reason) in the Summer of \'87 it was quite an eye opener.

I think it must have been around 4:30pm because I was just standing there staring at all the weird and wonderful miniatures until they shut! :)

I didn\'t have any money at the time but I scraped up about £5 and the next weekend I bought a Minotaur Lord for £2.50 (I can\'t find a picture but it was the one holding a club), a brush and three pots of paint: red, tanned flesh and black.

Needless to say I didn\'t make a very good job of it but it got me hooked. :D

It was a mounted figure from a no name company in 1978.

Sweet Monkee of Jebus - that was 30 years ago.

Still have the figure - if he\'s a little worse for wear.

I think mine was the first Space Marine Rogue Trader boxset with all the beakies! Good old RTB01 from GW in Cardiff.

Those gw bastards.. lol

First thing i bought were:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat1290128

Took them home, painted them black with the little pots of crap paint you get. Knew nothing about mould relese so the paint didnt stick. Ended up covering em in paint, then partially melting some of them with a hair dryer trying to make them fry quicker (should have used the cool setting).

Will try dig one of them out for a pic. As i remember they were okayly painted.

That guy was my first \'submission\' to CMoN!

I\'d love to see what you do with it!

Sadly I haven\'t even learned how to do checker patterns yet (I mess them up every time) but I\'ll see what I can do with it.:)

Nice threadomancy... Awesome thread to revive though. :)

The first kit I remember buying myself was an Italeri aeroplane, A french(I think) jet of some sorts, can't remember it's name but I do remember that it was supposed to be brown with a black area in front of the cockpit. When? well, I think I was 7 or 8 years old so 1992-93 somewhere.
