I'm happiest with how the second pic looks but obviously the background doesn't match. This was just done with lamps and a sheet of paper. I ordered a small light tent but it's still in transit, though I'll re-upload new pics of him once that arrives

Any tips? anything I should do different?

And comments on the model? :D

I like the quality of the photos. The figure it is nice and I guess will land somwhere around 7 as a grade, there is some areas that don´t seem to be as wellblended as some others, pants (big Orc, or inteeded as camo pattern?) and backside of arms on the small "goblin" as an exampel. I really like the claw very much anbd the kind of used look on the claw parts.

Thanks :) yeah when the model is blown up to 6 times its normal size I see some things I didn't before. The back of the grot's left arm for example. And yes the pants are a camo pattern, but very little of the pants are showing so it's hard to tell unles you have the mini in your hands for multiple angles (look at the left leg in the first and second angles)

What I really need to work on are camera settings. F stop, ISO setting, shutter speed, all that jazz. And I need some more lamps and my light tent (still in the mail)

I think the photos are pretty good, they're probably a little better than you're thinking because you can compare directly to the minis themselves!

I would actually recommend that you post the pics reduced a little though, just enough to tighten up the appearance of the paintwork without hiding details.
