First submission: Inquisitor Lord

Hey folks,

Well, I\'m a newbie here, but I\'ve been painting for the better part of 8 years. I\'m self-taught, so while I\'ve been painting that long, I\'m just getting to the point where I feel like my work is good enough to show on these forums.

I did this one about a year ago (thanks to college, it\'s pretty much my most recent complete model). I customized this Inquisitor Lord for a Daemonhunters force from a Grey Knight terminator with a psycannon. Used a daemon prince for the sword and wings, and the sash is from an old Dire Avengers sprue.

My goal was to depict the sword as captured demon sword, hence the shifting from blue to red (the Inquistor has more power over the enslaved daemon at the hilt than at the swordpoint).

Please criticize away, as I am eager to improve my work. Thanks!

it would be nice to see a pic of the back. don\'t worry about you stuff being \'up to scratch\' there are the best painters in the world here. it\'s not worth comparing yourself to them. believe me, i did and i drove me nuts!

3 things jump out at me on this model. first is mould lines (ok i can only see one but there arent many angles so there could be more). you cant afford to let any get through - although one always makes it!! :flame:

the other is that you paint seems very thick. you should be watering your paint at least 1:1 for average tabletop minis imo.

also there seems to be a lack of shading highlighting. although some could be the pic

have you got any more pics to show us so we can see what you are up to?

The comments that freakinacage are probably what most people will reply about. The comment about comparing yourself to other painters is soooo true. A lot of people ( myself included) thought they were great before they psoted on CMON and wondered why the got low marks. The realistic ones then look at what rates above 9 and realise there is a lonnnng way to go to get there.
It is good that you are using the forum as it is the best place to get constructive criticism about what you are doing right and what you can do to improve.

The mini you have created is a good idea and you have obviously thought about the look and feel of the Lord. The front sash looks about right. The back one? if there is lone ooks like it sticks out at a strange angle?
Nice to see you have done some work on the base but it can probably do with a bit extra. Maybe some metal junk - pipes, girders, bits of engine perhaps.

On a purely fluff point of view are the wings to represent a fancy jump pack or are they a mutation? Didn\'t think the inquisition take too kindly to mutants?
