Hey dude,

Good job on first postings! This thread could be tough. I thiink your painting looks pretty good so far and its difficult to comment in more detail because personally I find it really hard to get a good grasp on your minis due to the white background. It over powers my eyes and stops me focussing on the lovely paint jobs.

The tyranid thing looks really crisp and the light colours are quite different to what I usually see. Top marks for creativity. On the other hand there is a lack of contrast, the skin draws my eye but the mini seems to miss that final something. Super work though. The other thing I would add is that the black lining on the wings is a bit harsh. not sure if it is black but maybe use a dark tone from your palette to line in rather than black.

I am sure lots of other folk will have thoughts. Your painting is good but could you change the image backgrounds for better viewing. Would really complement the minis too!

Cheers
Will

Wow, strong start! Maybe try a more neutral background like a tan or grey to help make the mini pop and show off the colors more, try experimenting with a few dark backgrounds too (but that can be tricky with lighting and ISO and other things) if you prefer. Painting: On broad flat areas like the wings try using sponging or feathering, etc to add interesting textures. The flesh on the tyranid is great, so is the bone carapace, but the wing membranes fall a bit short of the rest of the paint job. The ork walker needs a bit more contrast on some of the armour and details, washes and stippling work well on ork machines and help add grime and definition. I don't have a lot of experience with orks so that's the limit of my advice on them. Again, good strong start!
