Hello everyone!
I\'m new to Coolminiornot and new to mini painting - I just got started this Christmas :flip:

My minis are 81790 and 81791. I\'d be greatly appreciative if people would leave a few comments and pointers for me.

Thank you, I\'m really enjoying this site!

Very nice indeed.
The sword flame needs taking up to a darker border, red, brown then black. This will give more emphasis on the fire. The reflection is sweet.
The orc looks good, more work on the base for extra points and as said the use of colour is great.

Ok, now that I\'ve handy links to click on and taken a look I can give feed back. :D

First of all welcome to the forum! Always glad to welcome a artist new to the hobby.

And for only 2 months of painting experience and only your 5th mini, you\'ve done some outstanding work. Both show a solid understanding of the underlaying concepts of painting 3d models at this scale as well as very good brush control for someone at your experience level. There is of course a lot of refining to your technique that will come from doing it more and more, but I\'m sure that will come. I wish I painted so well after 2 months, or even after 2 years doing this. (I was a slow starter).

At this point it\'s hard to give specific feedback as you\'re just developing your own style, but in general remember thinner paints will result in smoother transitions. More, thin, layers will look better as well as more small brush strokes, so you can\'t see individual strokes.

I look forward to seeing your work develop, so keep posting!

Granddad!
@donga: you are lazy, remember? you said so in your own topic :D
@Eric: thanks for the links, I\'m a lazy git too :D

well, ditto on what Eric said, practice is the key, along with knowledge. read as many tips & tutorials as you can, & dont only confine yourself to SF & F. There are so many different ways of achieving the same result
voted on both

Very nice, I agree with what has been said here already. Keep painting and you will get better. Do you have any prior experiance with painting?

prior experience

No experience with minis. Though I have been a pyrographer for a couple of years. (Wood burning designs in plaques with a hot pen) and sometimes I add color to those with watercolor paint. They also tend to be a lot larger - 6\" or more.

Thanks for all the positive feedback! I hope to get lots more practice in. :)
