First unit: Lannister Guard

They're waiting for their matte varnish in this picture which will cut a lot of the gloss but after two weeks of painting I've finished my first unit:

Looks really great! I'm making progress on my Lannister guards but I'm not happy with the flag. Any advice?

Thanks man. I still need to add the gold trim to each of the soldiers and fix the flags. The flags look sloppy up close but decent at table distance. My focus was painting FAST not detailed. The end effect will be quite nice for game table quality.

But still, if anyone has advice on how to make the flags look clean and nice let me know. Photos would be appreciated too so I can see what you did.

As to this, to keep it brief and avoid hijacking a thread, I’d say better coverage on the gold may help. It looks like the red is showing through, which may be causing what you don’t like. You can try pre painting the areas you want gold with a yellow first to help hide this. Alternatively, you could shop around for a gold that covers better. I had to do the pre-paint option for awhile until I found a decent gold paint. It took me three tries until I settled on GW’s line.
