First vote when submitting a mini

Call for an inquiry.

Does that first vote make any difference when you\'re submitting a mini?

i normally just leave it blank and it\'ll come up as a 6. Well, after reading about \"heard voting\" i tried starting a mini at 10 and the end result was almost one whole rank higher! Does that seem weird, or do you guys normally start your minis with a 10? And is that cheating? Should i go back and resubmit all my minis with a 10 \"head start\"? Seriously, the mini i experimented with the 10, once it hit 50 votes, jumped me from around #1600 to around #1230. That\'s a big jump for one mini, imagine 4 more of those!

OK... the call for an inquiry is over, but any input would be great.

i rate my minis as good as i think they are, pretending someone else has done them
sometimes it is a 7, sometimes a 9.
its as simple as that (in my case) ;)

Vote a high first vote and people often adjust you.
Vote low or no vote and others herd low as well indeed to that level.

Which is a good reason to vote fairly on your own work :) I actually used to vote a point lower on my minis, by accident, because I misread the voting bar on the submit page :(

I believe many voters are swayed by the \'present vote\' and take it upon them selves to agree, or try to \'correct\' the vote.

I do like Joshua, and try to give it an impartial vote, just like I try to do with other figs. Its a bit hard to be unbiased though, especially when the actual mini is almost ALWAYS better than the photo.

i vote on my minis how i would vote if they are others. its only after i post them that i realize how bad they look in the photos :D

If you voted your own mini as a \'1\', would the software remove that score later as an anomaly? That would be the coolest reverse psychology ever lol

Everyone will sympathise and vote you up a little, step-by-step, and then the software will weed out your original low score. Top :D

I haven\'t noticed that my \'first vote\' selection does anything at all. No matter what I give my piece, I have a 6 to start with.

Ya think the software might be trying to tell me something?

and there was me thinking you were being modest!! as for me - i generally just vote for what i would give someone else (and round up)

@freakinacage
If you take the number you would give someone else you can\'t round it up, now can you? It\'s already an integer! Unless you mean rounding up 10... ;)
