Oh my! Please be gentle. I just found out how to use GIMP and this is what I came up with. I`m doing 20 of those fellas and those two are the ones who have progressed the most.
It doesn`t really matter how long they will take (probably ages) so I would really like to push myself further. For that any advice would be highly welcome.

1.What do you think might be improved in general?
2.Shoud I hit it with mat-varnish? It dosen`t look that glossy in RL but still...
3. Ideas for the base? I know most people hate goblin green, but they shoud keep a refreshing golf-lawn look in my opinion to separate them from those filthy dwarfes:DScroll down to see picture ;-)

Its best to use an external picture place, like photobucket. Its simple, you join up and then you can upload pictures to there, then copy and paste the code into here and voilia pictures.

I think they look great for the table top. The one and only suggestion i have is you should add some texture/flock/basing to the bases. other than that nifty table top guys.

Well done

Looks great! I\'d agree about the bases.

Also, I really like the blacklining you have done on the shield. I think you should add more of it, especially on the chest armor and the lower part of the robe.

I agree with both Matt and Back on what they\'ve said, and to add in my two cents, how about giving the armor a couple of washes of black and blue just to give it more definition. Looking great so far, I especially like the shields.

Thank you. Its very encouraging to get feedback. Since most of my friends are gamers and not painters I rarely get any (apart from: \"looks great, but paint faster or you will never finish your army\").

@Matt: With your sigvald you have clearly reached the highest levels of painting on this site, so I`m more than willing to follow your advice! blacklining shall be done ;-)

@Diablofollower: I have seen this done on HEs with the typical blue GW trim, but I fear that blue ink on the armor might look strange with the green, and I don`t want it to be too dark. Any suggestions?

Bases will be flocked with static grass and probably some flowers once the rest is touched up.

And there is another WIP thingy. I would like to get some feedback on that too:

Banner.jpg

Its a depiction of Lileath the elvish moon godess. Unfortunately its so big that it fits only one model, the old chariot, so thats the way to go. I think there is room for improvement, so any insights might be helpfull

if you are looking to matte varnish them, here are the steps. Paint everything that is not mettalic, paint everything that is going to be mettalic black and then finally matte varnish and paint mettalics. This will ensure that your mettalics will eb shiney and not dulled down

Ok, i will try out a very subtle wash on the metallics. What do you think is the way to go? blue? black? or something else?

I don`t want to redo the whole armor (those little plates where a pain in the a***) so I search for another solution to the varnish-problem. How about giving ist a good cover with matt, than drybrushing with gloss on the amor parts? Im not sure if this would work or simply add more grain...?:(

Yes, the banner ist completely freehanded. Its a piece of an old shirt. I primed it white, than lined it out with a sharp pencil. Quite easy if you do some scetches to get a feeling for what you are aming at.
I have anotherone in the making, this was my first try and as you can see the two sides are not exactly mirror-images of each other (the moon is much smaller on the left side).
Watching it on the screen, I think that the green piece of cloth looks wrong. It is attached to low to be a cape and to high to be a loincloth (and it doesn`t even cover the privates lol). Should I redo that area?

For the armor just give it a wash or two with black. It will add some natural looking shadows to it. As far as the varnish goes, I wouldn\'t bother with a gloss over the armor. I think the metallic paints are already glossy enough that you don\'t need to add the gloss varnish. The matte should be enough.

As far as the banner goes, I\'d leave it as is. It not being perfect makes it look more believable at least for me. Think about it this way, looking at ancient artifacts today, they are definitely not perfect. Think of the banner as the same, some ancient magical banner that was created thousands of years ago. :)
