Ive never actually tried this out but my guess is :
black undercoat, leave a little black at the bottom and then scab red, red gore highlights, keep adding vomit brown for successive highlights, add white to pure vomit borwn, ink with reds oranges and yellows (maybe a little blue)
try sumthing along these lines but its only a guess :S

That\'s the wrong way around, the lighter clours ie white/light yellow should be on the inner folds/bottom of the flames, with the darker colours at the edges and top

Here\'s a rackham fire elemental I did recently to show this (I realize it\'s purple, but the principles are the same)

Yes, the interior of the flame is hotter, so it should be a lighter color.

Laszlo (sp?) has a fantastic article on how to paint at his site, Hot Lead. I\'d link to the specific article, but it looks like his site is over the bandwidth limit for his server, so it\'s not available at the time of my post. Whenever it\'s back online, you should be able to find the tutorial on there pretty easily.

But, for some examples, check out the following images here on CMoN:

And, in my opinion, one of the most stunning pieces: 3369.
