Really nice looking base, I really like the color you got on it from the pastels! I am going to have to give pastels a try sometime so thanks for that link on how to use them:good:

Thank you Gorb, Coyote and Eki. That tutorial is all you need (other than supplies).
I got a lot done today Only one pic for now though. I had an idea pop into my head before dinner. After dinner and a couple drinks I came home and started this backdrop for a Bronze Age Minis Death Dealer I picked up a few years ago. About an hour so with the airbrush and it's close enough for the Muses to let me sleep. I do have to work in the AM after all.

PS. Yeah, the vultures are a bit "sketchy", I'll fix 'em after work tomorrow.

EDIT-------
Okay now I gotta go to bed! Last one!

So much good stuff on this threat...
And your new project looks really nice. I'm really intersted to see how you will represent the mist, I will follow your updates with great attention.

And I see you have good taste in music too (it is a drawing of Heilung in the back right?)

Thank you for the comments! Yes Dex that is Maria Franz of Heilung (airbrush painting, wip). Love their music, wish I could've seen them when they toured the states.
Here is a picture the Death Dealer project as it stands now. I don't expect to put much time into it until I clear out a few other projects. I also have a "test subject" of the equine variety to do first. I want try the pastels on the horse, so the centaur will serve for experimentation.

So I've spent some of the last few hours testing pastels on my Centaur in order to work out colors for my Death Dealers Steed. Wow Super cool results! While this color may not work for the Centaur (ATM), they are perfect for DD's horse. Not sure the camera has captured the effect fully but the colors show up in a subtle but definite way IRL. Makes me want to move the DD project up in the que.

Wow, great job on that backdrop for the DD piece. I can make out the pastels on the centaur and think it look really good

Finished Reaper 77203 Bones Alsastriel

Finally finished something! This little girl was a love/hate piece. While I will be the first to admit that my mini painting skills need to improve, I still feel that the Bones line of minis are more challenging to paint than a well cast mini. However, I am sure with more practice the task will improve. For sure the next of these I take on will cet more attention in the prep dept. Perhaps some reworking of weapons to say the least. I don't plan on buying any more of these but I have a few in the stash yet.

I have this base in the works as well:

And Ky Ra inches ever closer to the finish line, no pics just yet.

Can completely understand you, I don't really care for bones, at least their human sized ones but great base for her. Love that base for the DD figure as well!

Love what you are doing with the horses + pastels. And the bones mini came out looking good. I don't have any experience with their line of minis, but from the looks of it they are pretty chunky, doesn't look like you get much detail to work with?

Thank you guys! Things are moving right along, so here is the current state of things:
Ky Ra; calling this girl done! I could've done more, but I suppose that will always be the case on every mini. More important to have it done than "perfect". She really gave me hard time photographing. I had to really dig into the settings to get these right.

An update on Mr. Friendly, almost done. His weapons still need to be painted. I know they look pretty good atm but that is all just my zenithal pre-paint. His shoulder pauldron(?) has had some attention, not done there either. Not super happy with the color of his legs but I think I'm done fighting it, we'll see.

Few more things kicking around. Really need to get back to work on the Barbarian, kind of a mental block going on, planning to focus on whatever that is and get it moving forward again though. Thanks for looking, C&C always appreciated.

A nice little scene you have there! Looks like a good start for the fire reflection. Did you make the bridge from scratch?

The pigments should work very well on your Death Dealer. They will help give give it well blended small areas that combined with small pops of colour will give it a look true to Frazetta. The background is nicely painted.

Thank you guys!
DChan, yes I built the bridge with styrene and balsa wood.
Bullfrog, I really can't wait to get back on that one.
KruleBear, so close to finished on that one. On hold 'till I get a better handle on NMM, I think I've about got now though.

I really ought to be posting more, I have so many irons in the fire right now and my photography skills are lacking. I have a decent point and click but can't seem to find the cable to connect it to my PC (I will though, damnit). My phone camera does a decent job but I need to dial in the settings, long process of trial and error. So, umm, there, that's my excuse "du jour". Some of the "other" minis that I have started
have been to test out this or that before returning to "bonafide WIPs". Then there's the couple that were just screaming for some attention. I plan on resolving my photo issues this evening, posts to follow promptly.
Thanks for stopping in and checking up.

Okay, I have my pictures more in line, not quite to my liking yet, but better. The first three are my learning pieces for nmm. None are done yet, but I understand what's going on and pretty much (think) I know what needs to be done and how to do it. That feels great as NMM has always been a stumbling block for me.None of these have the weapons done yet, they are set up fairly well for the next steps.

Then there is this great dragon bust from Black Heart. It is the Reign of Fire dragon. I just couldn't bring myself to paint him up black as in the movie. I really thought long and hard and although I really wanted to use some exotic colors, I chose green. Green dragons are the ones from my childhood. They were always green in my imagination, so there you go.

I also have this one just starting to kick in, not saying much about it yet, not fully committed.

The barbarian with the skull tree beckons to me. I mounted the fig, still need to do some work on his axes. There's something else missing yet. I'll figure it out though. The Minotaur needs his axes painted as well. I may or may not redo his fur, likely not though. Better to have it done, chasing perfection is futile. The Asian wizard may get a whole new paint job, not sold on the color scheme, happy with the base. I'll try for a new pic (water and a Koi fish now).
That's the most of 'em, most. Let's not mention the couple of Partha figs from 1991. or the Untamed beast fella I started (with no idea where I'm headed with it).
Edited to resize photos, man they were huge!
