Flash - does anyone here know it/how to design animations for pages?

I\'m no expert with Flash, but I\'ve been using it more and more recently. There are all sorts of sites devoted to tutes out there.
The main thing I\'ve learnt is that there\'s no shortcuts to doing the clever, interactive stuff. You need to learn Actionscript! If you use online tutes, make sure you can identify between all the different brackets in the code. Some of them make it difficult...

What are you actually aiming to do? Reason I ask is that generally the industry seems to be going away from Flash. Adobe have had at least one major security vulnrability in the past year and still haven\'t written a 64-bit version, coupled with the Accessibility issues (i.e. you can\'t change font sizes and such) a lot of people just don\'t think its worth the hassle.
Many things are possible now using a Javscript framework (e.g. MooTools), with the added benefit that if Javascript is turned off the site should still work.

@Sanjay : you\'ll want to start out with the tutorials that come with Flash to familiarize yourself with its components. And like Scott hinted, Google is your friend for finding more precise tutorials. Or else, just tell us what you want to do

Well, I want to design a site for myself.
A friend who does the background design/setup for sites (ie. the background databases, and now C Sharp coding, etc) (honda.ca, part of Microsoft canada, etc) said that what i wanted is normally done in flash but he doesn\'t know flash.
what i\'d want is something where you have menu list on the left side. When you move mouse over it, a line slides out to center of screen and windows open (either in a circle, or along the line).
But that type of stuff.
I\'ve seen some miniature sites, and other sites use similar styles.
I figure since friend can\'t help me/do it for me, i\'ll have to learn from scratch but not really sure where to start to reach such a point and unlike html, with programs such as dreamweaver and frontpage that do the background coding for you, i\'ve never heard of somethign like that in flash.

Sorry..I hate flash sites..they SUCK! LOL
Naa they are OK if your playing and trying to be artsy..but I find they tend to be way to slow and cumbersome for anything commercial..I tend to get bored very quickly with them and leave.

I have to agree with Jeff here the over use of Graphic \"Doo-Dads\" on websites gets irritating.
If I\'m visiting a site I want access not someone showing off fancy graphics. (Unless it\'s Shiney Miniatures.)

Sanjay, from the sound of things you just need set up a button with and animation inside of it. Unfortunately I don\'t have my book unpack so I can\'t be more technical at the moment, sorry. The Adobe website may be a good place to start, the help button, and as for books the \"Quick Start\" series are not to bad, the ones with the rabbit in the corner of the cover.

Flash accessibility takes a good bit of getting used to, but you can change the font sizes, colours etc and even link this up to the settings on the rest of the site if you really want to. You just have to code it, it doesn\'t do it for you.
Flash is still being used commercially, sadly, some people use it inappropriately.
This is one of the sites I was working on last year - I was technical lead on this one.
Royal Institution Christmas Lectures
There is an HTML alternative, and keyboard accessible version as well (sadly not all the games would be fun to play without a mouse, but that\'s another story).
Also check out the site flashkit.com, they have a good Noob part to the forum and will accept any questions.
