how doi you paint these on cloth to look good?

ive tried to paint a small purple one 5 times and each times it just looks so bad

i use gw paints btw

Have a sample in front of you. Do a google image search on Fleur-De-Lis. Other then that I think it just takes practice, like painting any freehand.

A brush with a very fine tip and having your paints diluted till they flow well makes a HUGE difference.

yeh It is my first proper freehand so I guess preachise makes perfect lol.

How would I highlight the purple to make it stand out against a cream robe, I\'d should I use a different colour?

just keep practicing, it took me several attempts to get the chapter markings on my DA Scouts

to highlight I\'d just add a little bleached bone to your purple base color

Underpaint it in pure white first, then go over that with your final color. The white makes the top color MUCH brighter.

just practice doing loads on a piece of paper to get used to the brush strokes involved
