FLGS (gaming shops) in Toronto?

Heading up to TO next week and I just had the bright idea to ask here if there are any stores that I need to hit while I am there.

I already plan on hitting Silver Snail, The Hairy Trantual, Grey Region, Bacca and The Beguiling, but I was hoping someone from the area could suggest somewhere I may not know about.

The main thing I am interested in is used book. Used Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Ancient Civilizations material (mainly Greek) for my Wife, and used Roleplaying products for myself. Anywhere that could potentially have a sale on Boardgames, RPGs or Minis would also interest me.

We have a few Good FLGS down here so I\'m not looking for your usual selection of stuff at the usual prices, I\'m looking for the type of stuff you can only find in \'the big city\'.

If anyone knows of a must see FLGS in the TO area, please reply here, or send me a PM. I would highly apreciate it. (and no the Games Workshop store on Queen doesn\'t count).

For your interest, there\'s a good place on Roncesvalles just south of Bloor, called \"Dueling Grounds\". They sell Flames of War (WW2) stuff, and Warmachine.

For anyone else\'s edification, Grey Region is a great place to start in Toronto, they have TONS of Reaper minis and even a reference catalogue so you can find them by number! They also have a whole whack of miniature odds and ends, older labels including historical unit builder packs and starship battles minis, and just random things.

More out of the way from the others, the FLGS I\'m most familiar with is Two Headed Dragon (North York Center on the subway route, and walk two blocks south on Yonge).
Gryphon Games closed down. It was on the east end. Don\'t look for it, anymore, obviously.
2HD usually has some pretty decent deals on board games, and sell the minis at the US prices. They carry GW and Privateer Press, primarily, with Klix games and one of the pre-painted modern war games (can\'t remember what it\'s called).

Also CCG\'s galore.

Downtown again, you haven\'t got 401 Games listed there. It\'s just a little farther north from Harry T\'s, on the other side. They\'re more CCGs and books than minis, but they have some. I can\'t vouch for their selection at all, though. I haven\'t been in since about \'95 or so.

Harry T\'s still has a good selection of Rackham metals to choose from, and they\'re selling them at 20% off, at present (I just got a few two weeks ago).

I agree with No Such Agency about Grey Region. It practically always opens late, so don\'t go too early, but it\'s got a vast selection of minis, RPG books, and other things.

And unmentioned, perhaps with good reason, there\'s the GW shop in the Eaton Center, at the Queen Street end, bottom level.

And if you need brushes, don\'t forget about Curry\'s Art Supplies, which is 2 or 3 blocks south of Grey Region, on the same side of Yonge Street.

There\'s another Curry\'s near Silver Snail, but I forget if it\'s east or west on Queen from it.

I\'ve never even heard of Bacca or The Beguiling. Where are they?

Thanks for the replies.

Grey Region also has the largest selection of out of print Roleplaying I have ever seen. That\'s it\'s main draw for me. I was able to pick up TSR Marvel Super Hero moduels I was looking for for years there.

I\'ve noted down Two Headed Dragon and Dueling Grounds and will see what I can do to get to them. Thanks for the info.

I totally forgot 401, I do always stop there as well. I don\'t do CCGs, but they usually have RP stuff used, as well as 10% off US cover. I usually hit the Amoto pizza by there, then walk towards the water down Young hitting 401, Grey and Hairy T.

Personally my favorite is the Hairy T. I\'ve found some of the best deals there, the staff is amazing and always willing to give you an honest opinion of their products and they were the first place in Canada I could find Confrontation minis, still in French at the time.

I skipped GW in the Eatons center, as I always skip the Eatons center when I got to TO. There did used to be a Hobby Games store in there years ago, that had a good selection of typical RPG stuff (D&D, White Wolf, the big names). Can\'t remember the name, and as far as I can remember closed a few years back.

As for Bakka and The Beguiling. Both are books stores. No games or minis there, but two of the coolest stores for new books I have seen. Bakka only sells Sci-Fi and Fantasy novels. Besides that cool fact they do reviews on a lot of there books, have extremely knowledgeable staff, and sell a lot of independent and Canadian authors. They used to be on Queen diagonally across from The Silver Snail but have since moved to Young... can\'t remember the exact address... Wow glad I did a google on that... seems they moved back to Queen Street. Plus I had the spelling wrong, it\'s Bakka. 697 Queen Street.

The Beguiling is another book store, but of a different type. This one specializes in underground, independent comics and trade paperbacks. They also have a huge Anime store upstairs. I\'d love to be heading there today for Free Comic Book Day... here\'s their website: http://www.beguiling.com/ The address should be on there. It\'s near Bloor and Bathurst, kind of behind Honest Ed\'s.

We don\'t leave until next Wednesday so if anyone knows of anywhere else to stop in, please let me know.

EDIT: doing some web browsing and I just noticed Hairy Tarantual has 50% off all Starship Troopers Minis for all of May. Not something I play but thought someone on here may be interested.

I just remembered another place. I\'m not sure if it\'s still there, to be totally honest.
It\'s called the Sci-Fi Warehouse. It\'s located just west of Dufferin and Steeles Ave. West.
When I used to live up that way, it was one of my main shopping places for RPG stuff, related books, minis.

Thanks for the info about Bakka and Beguiling. I\'ll definitely have to go and check them out.

Grey Region is okay. Everything non-reaper is half-price.

Their RPG stuff in the back has a nice selection, but way too expensive.

Okay that didn\'t help me find a new store, but thanks for the info.

Oddly I hit a local shop that doesn\'t normally sell roleplaying for Free Comic Book day today and picked up Two Marvel Super Heroes Boxed sets (X-Forces, and The Ultimate X-Men), a set of Star Wars battle boosk (the ones where one player plays an x-wing and the other plays a tie fighter), a set of every Hero-Clix Starro promo figure, a set of the Dragonlance Chrnoicals and Two other Dragonlance novels for a grand total of $4 CDN.

Seems I was wrong in aother post where I bitched about the local shops supporting Free comic book day. Made out like a bandit today.

Still looking for other shops to potentially visit in Toronto though...
