flying kick

for a duel i will be doing i will have one character doing one of these

on the otherguys chest how would the other guy be reacting??

on a poseing level would he be thrown backwards or what.

the guy getting kicked may also have a standard would this change anything??

For reference, look at any old Jet Li or Jackie Chan films! I guess the guy being kicked would lose his balance and stagger backwards. If he\'s holding a standard I bet he would drop it.

I assume, you would need the foot of the kicker to be still connected to the other guy\'s chest so that you wouldn\'t need any awkward clear plastic rod supporting the kicker. Thus, I think the kicked guy wouldn\'t have had the time to be flung to far back.

But if you would be able to pull off the thing in Vince\'s picture it would be great!

Theres alot of high body kicks in kiss of the dragon and once upon a time in china series.

I\'ve had the pleasure of one of these but not holding a standard, it depends on when you take the shot really, but the chest would go back collapsing first

It seems the chest is actually lower than the ideal target of that kick.
Seems the goal is to get above the opponent\'s guarding arms.
That\'s just what I get from the pictures.

Kicks to the head looks cool on film and such, but in real life it\'s quite hazardous and, thus, stupid to aim for the head with that sort of kick. It\'s easy to miss and you open yourself up for an attack if you aim for the head. The jump is mostly for getting your whole body weight into the momentum of the kick and the chest is the safest area to aim for since it\'s the biggest target.

Maybe you could form a load of japanese symbols connected them made from brass rod?lol

I\'d say curved back, chest \"collapsing\"... meaning it\'s being pushed back farest of all... the arms (and the banner likely being left to fall out of the hand as well) and shoulders/head would go forward and down a tad, the legs remain at startingposition.

A bit like this but then the kick would be higher and the bend in the shoulders and back greater (now it\'s mainly in the midsection, where the kick is now):

Would need quite a bit of converting/resculpting of the target mini then though. Not sure how to do it naturally with a rigid straight back.

Looks worse then it is hahaha... this guy is a stuntman and he\'s actually being pushed more then really forcefull kicked. Looks real enough though.

In my experience high snap kicks are aimed mostly at the head. Flying style kicks are usualy aimed at the top of the chest/central chest area.
the guy would most likely be completely off balance,but that depends on his stance at the time. I\'d hazzard bent back like this ( , with one leg slightly out forward, arms would be trying to maintain balance and head back.

Sorry to have to write this, but I think it might be a good fit into the earlier bit.
The episode of the Simpsons on sky one yesterday, when Grandpa is training to be a Matador. And he\'s doing the red cloth thing, and Bart is riding a bike with a horned helmet on the front. He goes right past Grandpa, and goes right towards Homer who\'s bending down. Bart screams and brakes just in front of Homer, at which point he turns around and moves slightly forward....
That is just classic. Sorry for putting that, it was a spur of the moment thing.

As a martial artist...ive done that kick to people, as well as been kicked like that. While not the most practical kick IMO...since it is a jump kick you need to remember 2 things. Height of the target, and height of the jump made by the kicker. Usually aimed to Top chest below neck. Head is too high, a duck will ruin any attempt to follow up from that kick. Although i have used that kick on someones ribs. Give me a little bit and i can draw up what that will look like.

Personally I think boot to the head looks coolest. (my second pic, head back and slightly to the side)
