hey all,
just thought would post this here as its become more crucial. https://www.helpveernow.org/
Wife's friend's grandson (4 year old) has a rare condition and recently, due to some turn in his condition, his life expectancy has been reduced to less than the rest of the year.
Don't understand how it works exactly, but donors for stem cells, even if it doesnt help him, it may match someone else.
He's in the UK BUT you can use links here https://www.helpveernow.org/register from various places (and other countries have their own as well).
A kit is sent and its just a cheek swab and you send it back.
Sadly in canada here, wife and I are past the age they allow for donors (18-35), in the UK its up to 55.
Its apparently a higher chance with someone in the same ethnic group -- Indian - (Asia) but there's still a chance with anyone, so they're trying to find anyone... his sister was the best chance but no match
regards,
Sanjay
