For whom the bell Screams

Hi Y\'all, cheap pun I know..

Anyway, to introduce my last completed work, the screaming bell:

In the two weeks I worked on this project, much has happened painting wise. Technically I changed the way I do many things, started using a wet palette, viewed the close-up thread while I was painting the seer, this motivated the hell out of me...

I also try to give myself small challenges on each project, on this one, the three kinds of wood and the seer cloak, especially. I\'ve restrained myself of doing large white(ish) cloathing until now, and it was just as tough as I expected. But I think it paid of, now that
I have overcome my fear of white fabric (Kind of sounds silly said like that.) many new color scheme options are opened to me.
Overall I see this one as another big achievement in my short painting career, and this feeling will surely last long after the voting tide brought it down to \"merely tabletop\" level

The painting looks good, and it\'s cool that you are setting challenges for yourself. I really like the base too. I assume it\'s a display base, because it would be impossible to play with that base on it.

In photobucket, near the upload button, there\'s a link called \"uploading options.\" Try setting the maximum file size larger for montages like yours... that way they aren\'t so teeny tiny.

Thanks mike, fixed the pic.
The piece is intended for gaming, I got a bit carried away on the base... I don\'t know much about gaming. I think the client plays with home rules and proxies so it might do. Or he can always detach the bell and keep the base, for display.

Your painting is good but it is spoiled by the mould lines on the bell. I would clean them up and repaint. Otherwise awesome piece.

Your painting is getting much better I may have to borrow DRs hammer soon.

I guess assembly and prep are still amongst my weakest points...
Now what\'s that about a hammer, I might feel threatened if you didn\'t live all the way down in Oz...

Nice footprints on the base, an excellent touch I agree the mouldline brings it down rather.... but overall this piece has a lot of impact and stands out in a gritty, dark sorta way. I like it a lot, very Skaveny. Voted.

I guess its just me, but the mold lines on the bell didn\'t bother me as much because I\'ve seen RL bells that suffer from this same problem.

These are not mould lines, they\'re casting lines, the skaven don\'t change their molds often enough

SNAP! that is really well done! great colors, and the rats look solid! the dirty wood is flawless, and the grey seer is excellent....i really dig those colors together. im impressed. the only comments i have are 1) the mold line (but it is on a cast bell sooo...) and 2) the metals are a lil\' too regular, a few washes to crud up specific areas (ridges, bolts etc) would help emphasize the old feeling i get from the wood.

I agree with the metals, at first I wanted to make them very weathered, but I tought it would be too time consumming, plus I did a lot of that lately. So I decided to invest the extra hours on the seer and the base^^
It would have probably been very fitting for skaven\'s tough.

Well, It\'s a high 6 afterall, I\'ll try harder on the next one
