I just painted a little. Nothing special there, I do it quite often, Now, I was doing leather and wanted to add some GW Chestnut Ink. Now I have an older pot, the one with the screw top, and have not yet quite mastered the art of opening this bane of my existance and usually get ink on my fingers. Now... the following happened:

My thoughts: Hm, well, let\'s add some Chestnut Ink to that Snakebite Leather. Where\'s the... ah, there the pot is. Now screw it open... slowly. Steady.... just.... about got it.....

Voice: PATRICK!!!!

Me: WAH! *recovering* What do you want, mother?

Mother: I\'m going to bed. Good night.

Me: Good night, mother.

Thoughts: Now about the ink... hey, did not spill anything. Screw on.... slowly....

Background Theme: O Fortuna/Crescendo

Thoughts: Oh my god oh my god oh my god I\'m doing I\'m doing it I\'M DOING IT!!!

Background Theme: O Fortuna - Full Volume

Thoughts: [/I]Yes! Finally! I have opened this bottle without spilling anything! I have really done it! My power knows no limit! [/I]

Bodily Functions start to tremble. Sudden Burst of Adrenaline. Pressure builds up inside.

Thoughts: I am what I always wanted to become! Finally, I can walk proud among the gods - nay, BE A GOD! I WILL FEAR NO MAN, FOR I AM A GOD!!!

Sound in real life, outside of the comforting warmths of my brain: ATCHOOO!!

Cleaning my face wasn\'t even the problem. My self-esteem took a much harder blow.

Ah well, it\'s all part of the comedy that is life. Thinking about it, many parts in the comedy of life should make me scream. Any interesting stories from you out there?

hill story

not directly painting related, but I s\'pose since this is the day I \"branded\" my husband (get your mind out of the gutter, this was before we started dating), and he eventually started doing minis n stuff...

As a teen, I was sus--susept---sussetp---easily given laughing fits (I don\'t giggle, it\'s more of a guffaw => squeak => silent laughter => squeak, when I really get going) This was one such summer night. Late May, one of the popular hangouts was at the lake (Michigan) front on the North side of town. Warm evening, lots of people, and my hubbie to be (at that time, a friend) was in rare form. He was making a group of about 4 laugh pretty good, but I just couldn\'t stop laughing, to the point I was having a hard time catching my breath.

Being the \'kind\' soul that he is, he tried to help me breathe by saying, \"breathe in, out, in, out...\" Yup, you guessed it, my mind was right where He thought it was and it just got worse! I started backing up, a little at a time. Not being aware of much other than Breathe! and \"in...out...in...out\" closer to the edge of the cliff (okay, it was only about 10\' and more of a suddenly steep hill that was eroded a bit)

Did they say anything? NO! :flame: Of course not!

As he describes it, I resembled Wiley Coyote in the road runner cartoons - I realized I was about to fall, looked at them, my eyes got kinda  and seemed to hover there for just a split second, then dissappeared. Being gentlemen (and by this time, about 6 guys were watching this go on) they came to the edge and called out \"hey! you okay?\" At first they couldn\'t tell if I was laughing or crying, but as soon as I looked up at them, they saw that, that I still hadn\'t stopped laughing, so they just walked away.....

It doesn\'t end there!

I finally caught my breath (wasn\'t hurt \'cept a scratch or two from the weeds) crawled up the hill, and made a bee line for Lee. I don\'t remember saying much other than \"you!\" and then it happened, I smacked him on the chest, for making me laugh so hard, for letting me fall down the hill, and for walking away.

I did not intend to leave a mark, I really didn\'t. (to which he says \"uh huh, sure you didn\'t\") but still reeling a bit from lack of O2 the fall, et c. I guess I hit him harder than I meant to, left a handprint on his chest that actually turned a bit beyond red, and lasted for 5 days.:(

Amazingly enough, he was the only guy from that group that wasn\'t afraid of me after that. About two weeks later, we started dating. :D

The best man used that story during his toast at our wedding dinner, he was the first to say that I had branded the big lug way back when...lol :p

ah, the infamous \'atchoo-accident\'; I\'ve been there :D
My most embarrassing paint-spill moment was when I tried to chase a fly away with my hand, which of course was holding a newly bought open pot of GW blood red :(
well you can imagine the sound the paint made when it hit the floor was something like \'flutch\'; it\'s a bit harder to imagine the sound my mother made when she saw it happening lol

Some people do some strange things...
I remember many years ago when I started dating my gf, my family had taken us out to dinner in the city. After our meal, we headed towards the cinemas, it was around 7pm, so the traffic was starting to speed up after rush hour.
As the rest of us stopped at the corner to wait for a walk signal, my gf just keeps walking...
Noticing this, and the huge line-up of speeding cars hurtling towards her, I stuck my arm out and pulled her back to the sidewalk like a sack of potatoes, as the car that really was going to take her out went flying past without so much as hitting the brakes or even the horn.
To this day my mum recons I saved her life.

And then the exact same thing happens three weeks later on the same corner (only heading in the other direction)...

and about driving in this place,

Yesterday, I had a girl driving whilst talking on a mobile phone run a red light so that I had to swerve to miss her, then she pulls up along side me and tries to give me a mouth full... :flame:

BIG mistake:flame:

I\'ve had several experiances of a very similar nature. Twice while opening paint pots, and three times opening large paint cans. It seems that every time I try to open a water paint mixture it goes all over me, and not the object i\'m painting. For once I\'d like it to spray onto the thing I actually want it to get onto, and not allover my face and pants!
