Just wondering if anyone has tried tru-scaling the forge world pre heresy marines? I'm thinking of having a go at a few but thought i'd see if anyone has any experience in it before i start hacking away :)

I have not. I have, however, started on some of the plastic Termi minis I got from eBay for far less than GW listed MSRP. I would be afraid to try it on the FW, given the cost of them.

Anyone got the "right" True scale proportions somewhere?

I've been willing to start, but from a website to another, even from an artwork to another, it keeps changing A LOT!!

Hi secretpaintgeek, first post on CMON!
I'm in the process of converting some true scale marines with the tutorial from Master of the Forge posted above. The process you use really depends on your ideas of what a true scale marines would look like, you can convert the base marines with extending legs and bulking out the torso by it tends to look a little thin hipped and I think the Forgeworld marks of power armour would suffer from this. I am going down the road of converting from the terminators that makes the marines look very stocky and much larger than their Guardsmen counterparts. The draw back of this technique is that they are too large for the typical bases and need the Terminator bases instead. The amount of work needed for truescaling marines means that the extra work to change the marks of armour isn't all that much.
Thats a nice long winded first post! All the best with the project

Thanks for the input fellas. I have done the Terminator thing before but wasnt too keen on the bulked out look really and it sorta leads to the problem of what to do about terminators, they would need to be massive. I'll have to just try a few things out I guess. Went a bit mental when i Brought the FW marines and so I have far more than i'll ever need for my list so i'll have a few spares for testing options.

Thanks again and i'll let you know how it pans out. Oh and welcome to the forums Mohaniker :)

Hi guys, first time posting on here.
I've been working on a series of Special characters, true-scaled of course. To answer the question, the only FW model I've true-scaled is Hector Rex. They say he's a 'giant of a man' so he's up to give and take, 7ft.
Currently I'm working on Abaddon, Azrael, Belial, Dante, Typhus, Kharn and a couple of unnamed marines. All I can say is after everything is said and done, The terminators will stand the height of a stock GW dreadnought. I've decided that marines will stand at 8ft, given all their augmentations and what not.
Gaming wise, I doubt they'd be usable at any point because they simply are huge. I'm finishing up Typhus so I hope to post some WIP shots.
Oh and another thing, I realised that GW kits are out of scale so I've taken the liberty of making even the humans look proportionate too. Shots will follow!

Good day,
Clarence

It's true Master of the Forge's proportions are the most harmonious. I wouldn't give a try, not a first try anyway, with some of the pricey FW stuff.
