Forgeworld Great Unclean One

Interesting. He looks kinda like a rainbow, very colorful. Its not bad at all, its just interesting and uncommon. I really got to say that I like to see some nurgle demon (counts for marines too though) thats not just a huge blob of mixed up green and red color clumps with another brown or bright green drybrush... you know... just because its Nurgle, it doesn't need to be ugly painted. Glad you managed it nicely. Definitely something I'd like to see on gaming tables. You really should try some Tzeentch though, it would greatly benefit from your colorful painting. Honestly, its an interesting flow of green, blue, gray, purple and turquoise.
Ah, one last thing... I love his toenails, haha.
And now the drawbacks :p The pink wounds on his arms and shoulders could benefit from some darker edging or contrast, like the great wound on his spine. It would give some more depth to them. The tongue could have used a little more contrast or a deeper/more saturated purple to make it a bit more outstanding.

Edit:
The time-frame in which this huge monster was painted is just incredible.

Yep, I'll have to say there is a lack of highlights overall. But the pastelling of the skin is very cool and creepy.

I think my biggest complaint would be the lack of the 'wetness'. While this could be achieved through severe highlighting, maybe a gloss overcoat, on just the innards?

I did do gloss effects painted onto the open wounds, etc :(

it didn't work that well. Maybe should have done 3 or 4 layers.

Hendarion - I just ordered the Lord of Change from FW, but there are some stuff I want to do with it so not sure if I will be able to manage.

1) cast the head/neck and turn it into a 2 headed version (Kairis?), cut open torso section and resculpt where it needs to split to become 2 necks/heads. have one head turning to the right side, the other as it is normally.

2) what i thought of, the close up detail of the wings is great (although they do look overall a bit boring)...I wanted to make him a 4 winged demon (ie. 2 sets of 2 wings), but out stretched and wrapped somewhat around the body. Not sure if i should attempt to sculpt new wings, or maybe break some off a Mcfarlane figure and repaint them, etc. In the end, I may not bother; the amount of damage i'll have to do to the model will be scary; i've cut up FW dreadnoughts, etc before and reposed, etc but this would be alot more drastic and require alot more skill.

StarFyre, the wings really are boring. That is what mostly disappointed me. The other 3 demons are damn great, but those Tzeentch wings from Forgeworld - I really don't like them. Maybe too many feathers, maybe the details just suck, I don't know. Your ideas sound interesting though. 4-winged-ones are always cool.

great work for the time frame. i agree there could be some more colour though. also, more drippy bits. he is nurgle after all - i expect the wounds to weep!

Not bad, the shifts of colour are nice. I agree with the rest, more depth to it and more gore in the wounds.

If I wanted to go back and enhance this figure (considering it was done in a day) what would you suggest?

To add shadows, glaze into the recesses gradually with colours liek dark green or brown? Would all the different colours cause issues for shadows/highlighting do you think?

Really digging the pale color scheme for him. I would like to echo the call for more depth. Some near-black shadows here and there will make those pale colors pop even more.

Great stuff.
