Forgeworld resin minis

I am needing some help with these Forgeworld resin minis.

I thought i\'d get some for my birthday!!!
So I got the newish cadian command squad and infantry upgrade pack.

So I have a look, and ears, noses etc are missing, so phone Forgeworld and they will happily replace, then start sorting out the scanner and its got blue stuff, like blue tack stuck all over it. I scrub at it with soap and water and it wont come off!!
What a birthday!!!!
Question; do I use a heavy primer, and is humbrol OK?
Whats the best way to get the flashing off?
Any other tips would be happily recieved

Mark, Sounds like the blue stuff might be part of the mold...is it spongy???

Flash can be removed easily with a knife edge (scalpe) or a small file. and the guys at Forgeworld that I spoke to at GD last year (designers etc) all said that super glue willl stick the parts together OK.

If you have any small imperfections (pitting/rough areas) then these can be filled with a watery like wash of milliput.

EDIT: Prime as normal. Although I have heard of people using car spray primer on resin casts.

Hmmm...

I\'ve had some very dodgy FF castings in the past. If you aren\'t happy with them send the whole bloody lot back. At the prices they charge, I expect near perfection.

I have the keeper of secrets
She had no blue tack so I can not help you there except to try simple Green to remove it
I used files to remove flash and I prime with a brush on primer lightly 2 coats
Greenstuff does indeed fill the poc marks well.
I would email about the blue stuff

I\'ve been lucky. I get good casts it appears, but FW will replace parts that are messed up, so get them to replace them.

For priming, wash with soap/water and scrub with old toothbrush.

Do this well for a few minutes.

Prime with car primer.

Yes finn18, I was expecting something better than GW plastics and metals :eek: I have had Verlinden resin minis in the past and they were great.
I have a mould line on his trousers 1.5 mm in front of the proper line and a frigging great hole inside all the way down the leg,

Mark, it sounds like they gave you a duff batch send the buggers back to them and get them to change them or at least phone them about it, as Finn says for the price they charge you should get perfection at least.

After all if you buy the resin figures that Privateer do for Warmachine they are near perfect straight from the box and look as if they have even primed them for you :D

But, I suppose mistakes happen. Don\'t judge them on the mistake, judge them how the FIX the mistake...

Sorry sarcastic cynicism rearing it\'s head. However Vike is right, Quality control is an issue that Forgeworld do need to \"get their finger out\",with.

In my limited experience with Forgeworld, the average quality of their resin stuff is worse than GWs regular stuff. The quality is extremely variable, which is a shame, since forgeworld has some cool stuff, but I\'m going to be very careful before ordering anything from them again.

If you\'re going to buy something from forgeworld, you need to buy it when it\'s new, and the mould is fresh. If you buy something that\'s been out a while the quality is probably going to be pretty terrible.

They have been primed for you!!

I can vouch for the superb quality of PP castings..indeed they are so confident that they do put a coat of primer on them. The only problem I have found is that they appear to neglect to wash them first and the primer can flake off...Not a major problem however.

My FF Baneblade however took about a week with a dremel before it was even ready to be assembled.

Oh man Krom! If it wasn\'t for the bad luck you\'d have none at all!:(
Reckon it\'s all been said. GW are quick to stir the pot so get your wooden spoon and do a bit of the same ;)

There\'s no real excuse for such crappy casts. I\'ve seen alot of miscasts from FW and to be completely honest, they just don\'t care what kind of crap goes out the door, just that it goes out the door. Send the whole lot back, if they don\'t stand behind their product and replace it, ask \'em for a refund. If they don\'t give one, badmouth them to everyone you know.

At least that\'s what I would do.

ps. the spongy stuff sounds like uncured (improperly mixed) resin. Silicone shouldn\'t be spongy if they\'ve got a halfway decent moldmaker.

I phoned them again, and I have to send the demolished scanner back to them. freepost by the way!!! but I dont want that I want to paint my birthday frigging mini\'s :D
I\'ve already attempted to scrape the shit off of it (light blue rubbery stuff) and correct the bits that have not been cast, and assemble it and was going to photograph it in the direction of the good bit once i\'ve painted it :D

It is such a shame, Its the first mini I\'ve bought for myself, instead of having to paint everyone elses (OK a couple of clients) and this happens.
Their minis do look fantastic on the website, and if cast properly, would be worth the money for sure, i.e. 5 mini\'s and a scanner for £20 is good in my eyes
:D but I will think twice before buying off them again, thats for sure.
I will try again and see if I get replacements, whilst I have a go at whats left.
Thanks for the replies, and these mini\'s only came out recently as well
