Freaky

Sorry if a few of us seem cynical...

But you, yourself, announced quite clearly, right at the very beginning, that it was your goal to make Senior Member before the end of the summer hols...and it appears to have been a simple dash ever since... You have made a few, very useful and helpful posts, but these have been \'snowed under\' by the the \'wow\', \'you guys crack me up\', \'I agree\', \'me too\' type posts, for a lot of folks to take you seriously.
This is a fun forum, and you are a valued member, but a little self-restraint might have gone a long way with some of us
It\'s too late now of course...You are a freak and that\'s it! No more rewards, no more ranks to achieve. If you retain your current rate of posting I will be very impressed..if it tails off however...then it will all have just been a sham and a summer holiday exercise....

Guess it\'s up to you then. You can still surprise me...

That was basically what Finn said. I feel somehow that each post by the user should have at least one full declarative or inquisitve sentence, otherwise posts would be exactly like my little rebuttal there.... and then we\'d have total anarchy!! (And if any anarchy is going to happen, it should be lead by ME!)

That would be cool...

Perhaps you could save me a bit of time and fill in, while I\'m off modding comments..

I\'ll coach you in the \'search features\' if you need it...:D

Sometimes the vacuous posts are fun. Sometimes they\'re just... there. I agree, in part, with Finn.

I also agree with Supervike. When I first came here the site was scary, seemed very elitist (and for someone who just came from a site so elitist they flamed newbies until they went away), and I was rather shy about posting anything. It took me a while to post something, and then it was one post, and then I admit to running away in fear for a while.

I still haven\'t even checked for replies to that post. I know it was something about photography, but I have no idea where to find it now. lol

But I try not to make a big deal about hitting any kind of \"post marker.\" So I hit it. So have a lot of people. Whee. Fun. It\'s kinda like hitting thirty years of age. Too young to want to settle into a routine and you still want to party, but too old to not be responsible anymore. There are no more excuses after thirty.

i apologize for being a burden on this community...it was ment in no way mean or anything, i just enjoyed being myself. from now on, just helpful posts, and if my post count goes down or the number of posts a day i have goes down, so be it, and if thats what people expected, theres nothing that can be done about that.

i am debating taking all my \"useless\" posts out, deleting them. it might just be the only fair way.

sorry guys.

IPM, nothing was meant to hurt your feelings at all. I\'ve enjoyed a good deal many of your posts. I\'ve made some pretty vacuous posts myself. It\'s part of what has made CMoN more friendly.

If this site was nothing but helpful posts and stoicism, it would die rather quickly.

And don\'t take the mad ramblings of an overworked, overtired (not getting enough sleep as the baby still wakes me up several times at night) and brain frazzled me to heart. I\'m the last person, really, to say anything.

I\'m sorry.

IPM, this forum needed you. We were getting very stodgy and you and your breath of fresh air blew in. Keep it up girl.

(but IPM the moderator does have a certain ring to it.) Who better to moderate that the mad poster?

As to post count, I try to keep at least one a day in the painting critique forum. But a large part of my count come from the WA thread. The other two forums are where we go to help each other here. Here is where we come to have an e-cocktail (e-beer or e-wine take your pick) with each other.

This round is on me.

I don\'t think anyone is saying you are a burden on the community....

Actually, you have been a breathe of fresh air (not that you others are stale) lol

But (and I am sorry to bring this thing up) the Word Association Thread seemed to be a precursor of what is going on.

I started that thread with nothing but good intentions and it quickly turned into a mindless exercise that many used ONLY to boost post counts.

I don\'t know exactly what my point is...like I said before that I have participated in many threads where the only point of the entire thread was to just boost counts.

One or two times has some humor value, but when it seems like the entire site is dominated by these threads, the forum looses its impact.

If folks are posting solely to boost their count, then it is time to readdress the whole point of the forums.

This is more of a \'self realization\' than an accusation, so no one should be taking this personally.

I know, for instance that most of my posts have become less and less \"mini related \" which is really the reason I am here in the first place.

I don\'t know what the answer is.....???

Now was this a serious well thought out post?

Becca - Ignore those old coffin dodgers. They are just upset because they realized they spend more time on these forums reading silly spiderman stories and sexual inuendos than actually painting and looking at minis. (At least I hope so - some people seem to be always here and if they spend as much time painting as they do here they get no sleep or social life)

Why spend more time in General discussion? Becuase real human beings are more entertaining than metal ones.

As for post count, congratulations on being a freak. I\'m glad you enjoyed your rise to the top. In a few days this topic will fall to the bottom and you wont even remember. In the in between carpe diem - or as it is almost 10PM - carpe noct or something like that.:p

Ah, you make a common mistake that many make with me. Despite its apparent lack of content a large amount of thought went into that post, like I was considering discussing how IPM had to start her own thread to discuss her freakdom, something that indicates a true freak at work, no time to waste waiting for others to notice that she was close (although I did make a mental note when she was at 955, but then I\'ve been ill and busy so not keeping up much).

I also thought about saying something amusing, or making an innuendo, or something, but then I got distracted and it was time for lunch and so in the end fell back on my standard response to such things.

Has this turned into a \'pat Becca on the head\' thread ?

I for one was absolutely not upset by the content or lack thereof of any of your posts. :)

I\'ve seen some forums where half of the members were hijacking all the threads systematically with smiley wars. And if you don\'t know what a smiley war is, you don\'t realise your luck. :D A little spontaneous \"yay !\" is really softcore compared to that. :bouncy:

Btw :

I can picture it just fine. Trevor, hunched over his desk in deep meditation, brows knitted in concentration : \"Hmm, how many \'e\'s should I use today ?\" lol
