life after CMON

Long time since my last post!

I just drop in to lurk every now and then and don\'t usually bother with the GD thread anymore - I realise now that it was posts like this - and SV is right the word association thread was the beginning of the downward path - that caused me to loose interest.

Is it an adiction? - I\'ve started messages a couple of times and then thought - why bother! - seems to me that when people spend most of their time on pointless messaging its time to find something else to do.

I suppose now I\'ve actually sent this the addiction will kick in again and I\'ll be posting fit to bust to catch up Finn et -al.

Jeeze - is this negative enough?

Amen...I\'ve lost a bit of interest in posting for the sheer hell of it. To put it preachily, I\'m disillusioned with the wonderful thing that is CMON, so to speak. No, disillusioned is too pretentious a word to apply to a forum, but the twenty odd new threads every day that are filled with useless posts are getting on my nerves. I\'m a hypocrite, of course, because I loved those threads, but now they\'re just starting to anger me. And the congratulatory threads, too! Damn them! They\'ve replaced the WA thread as artificial inflators of peoples post counts....

*Puts on beard* Why, I remember when the forums were slow-paced. When Finn wasn\'t a freak, at least in name, and when posts mattered. Not like these cheap one-liner posts you get nowadays. ;)

I\'m the same as Nomis, though. As soon as school eases up, I\'ll probably start posting again and get sucked in.

*Walks off into the sunset wearing a \"Drama Queen\" T-shirt* :D

well, if it is any concelation, i\'m planning a serious topic for my freakdom post....which is only 6 posta away...:p:p:p:p

it is true that useless drizzle get\'s on the nerves, but i\'d hate this forum to be like the Bolter and Chainsword or something. all work and no play makes the forums a dull thing. pover the last year i\'ve noticed that gthese foriums are moving into real online community territory, with a lot of people meeting up with eachother etc, whilst you don\'t see that happen on most other boards....

don\'t take away the madness that is the cmon forum, you\'d break my heart....there\'s nowhere else i\'m allowed to post more than 5 smilies in a reply :):):):p:p:p:D:Dlollollollol

well, i think the madness of the general forums is a good thing, but I am beginning to agree with you about some of the blatant post-stealing without adding to topics thing...

its only a number after all (you can tell I am a long way away from any of the posting milestons ;))

While the point Nomis makes about the General Discussion forums has some truth in it, I\'m not about to discard it for somewhere else.

Despite that, this site is primarily about Painting miniature to their best endeavours, the GD forum has generated some good discussions, information exchanges and education. (Well if you count explaining to the American contingent where their version of English has gone wrong.) lol
It has also helped to foster international friendships, swaps, exchanges and support when times and situations have been difficult.

Ok the pointless counts seem to be padding the forum, but hey we\'re human and it\'s meant to be harmless fun.
There are worse sites to visit; on here you don\'t find endless rants about armylists, slagging off Elves or Eldar, dubious information ( or worse deliberate mis-information posted by GW staffers) people who are so \"up themselves\" that they don\'t bother with talking to \"mere mortals\". People who join in are 99.9% welcomed and generally the 0.01% non welcome is because someone forgot too. (That might be me by the way! Sorry!) We can, have and generally do wander off topic, as has this thread, but my point is:- all conversations do.

Besides, which it\'s a damn sight better sitting here exchanging views, comments, joking on and talking amongst like minded ( scary thought ) people, than watching the same mindless drivel ie. soap operas on TV night after night.

All things considered, I think of CMOM as my E-Home and the General Discussions as listening and joining into my E-Family\'s convoluted conversations.

Edit: While Becca\'s rise to Freakdom Status has been meteoric, So What! I really don\'t care. Whilst on here she has been a teenager with some courtesy and humour. She\'s shared her enthusiasm with us and I personally hope that she can long continue to do that.

Hey, DR, you casting aspersions as to our use of the mother tongue? Just remember evolution is a good thing. ;)

It has also helped to foster international friendships, swaps, exchanges and support when times and situations have been difficult.

I for one value the e-friends I have made, and I have met some at the various cons, so in my mind, there is no such thing as a wothless post. Every post helps to define us.

Cheers,
Jack

I think that the answer to that would be a resounding.......... Yes! ;)

Just remember evolution is a good thing.
Except if you lived in Dayton, Tennessee, during the 1920\'s and your name was John Scopes. ;)
