Why not just gice away a random lump of plastic? \"There you go kids!...Go nuts!\".

And if anyone complains, it\'s \"Dynamicaly posed troll sh!t\".

.. Mine have no cracks. And I happen to really like the Night Goblin, though I admit the dwarf is very static. But I don\'t want people thinking that this is what these minis are for, as they are from a beginner\'s boxed set, and GW has many better plastics/pewter mini\'s coming out very soon. Bogrut Facebeater on boar, anyone? Skarsnik and Gnobbla?

Back in the day, GW (actually it was CITADEL that produced the minis) had a short line of plastic miniatures. They were dwarves, and actually sculpted just about as nicely as the closeup you see.

I think this was there first foray into the wide world of plastics, every thing up till then was made with the chewy goodness of lead!

They called them Psycho-styrene. Not sure why...but they were cheap comparatively, and would make good rank and file minis.

Thats all I know.....and some of that is still subject to validation....lol

Are you on their payroll? The old, \'better coming out soon\' argument just doesn\'t wash coming from the oldest company in the business. I bought my Skarsnik and Gobblar over 20 years ago and I doubt they will be beaten..do you have any links to the new versions?

These (the cover-mounted) minis are presumably the best they thought they could present to the general public, otherwise why would they have given them as freebies on a front cover? Personally, I would have dug a hole and hidden them:D

well, i like the look of the night gobbo (can i get a close up?) but my gosh - ick that dwarf is heinous. green army men are better by far.

Just to play devils advocate in the middle of all this anti-GW ranting...

1. The battle for skull pass box contains over 100 minis for 40 pounds, plus the new rulebook. That\'s a pretty good deal in my opinion.
2. The fact that these minis are single-piece and quite simply sculpted means that they can be set up and painted to game with more quickly, which is excellent if you are just getting in to the hobby, and it\'s these people that the box is primarily directed towards.
3. The fact that they are more simply sculpted means that they won\'t compete with GWs more expensive blisters and troop boxes.

Um wow. The stuff from the old Battlemasters sets was and is better than that dwarf.

I was thinking of buying the deal from GW that includes one of the battalion sets, but after seeing that dwarf, I think not.

Supervike we are old :D but just for you I came across these yesterday whilst sorting out a box of plastics...

Looking at these and the ones shoved out in the WD I guess they haven\'t really come that far since 1992.

The goblins of 92 are on a par with the new one/free one.

I have a box of skull pass on advance order OK some of the Dwarves are crap but when you look at it not all the regiments in skull pass are the same as these...the dwarves have different poses and you get the goblin spider riders.

Then again I might be completely out of my tree or :drunk: and they will all be crap

I like the goblin, not keen on the dwarf (but then I don\'t like many dwarves).

This thread still has the feint odour evil GW blah blah blah.

And thats plastic? Wow I like plastics and have always said (well not when I was 5) that they will eventually get up to the same standard, but wow.

15 year old plastics better than latest releases?

Yep, just about sums up GW at the moment. As does the fact that they\'re replacing models (gobbos) with ones that are inferior to the ones they released 10 years ago.

I don\'t buy all this \'But it\'s for beginners\' rubbish. Heroquest and Space Crusade were both for beginners and the minis were infinitely better.

You can buy a big pile of horse shit for 40 quid. It\'s still a big pile of horse shit when all\'s said and done....

if it\'s plastic i would honestly be impressed, however it\'s a special character and more than likely will be metal. still it\'s a nice looking model.

Skarsnik is metal and I believe he\'s £15

You know I really like the new Gobbos. The one on the White Dwarf cover is a bit softly moulded (I\'m guessing these cover mounts were tooled at a budget) but the ones in the skull pass set are better. Same sculpt but the moulding is sharper.

The dwarfs aren\'t as good as the Gobbos but they aren\'t bad. The only real complaint I have is that the arms are way too long.

And I really must say there\'s no way the Space Crusade models were better than these. I can think of plastics that are, but not those...
