This is WONDERFUL! some of my favorite authors! I am a die hard ebook reader. I haven\'t picked up a paper book in about 3 years.
My absolute favorite ebook site is Fictionwise. Not only good selelction but but a lending libarary as well.
But FREE books thats even better!!!:bouncy:

Terrible... e-books are worse than digital music...
I\'m biased though, I just left a music store to work in a book store.
Still, there is a sublime pleasure in the tangible. A nice leather bound and embossed book, a classic jazz album on 180 gram virgin vinyl. An e-book, and mp3 for that matter, just doesn\'t have the class, tact, and style of the real thing. Not that those should be the reasons to read or listen, but you catch my drift.

I thought it interesting that every book that was released as an free e-book quickly saw a rise in paperback sales.
Its a very good point....curling up with a good laptop doesn\'t have the same appeal...There is also something special in opening a book for the first time, with all the pristine pages....
The music thing though...that doesn\'t bother me...probably because I was never into records...by the time I really got into music it was cassette tapes.
Oh see now I get to explain Why I LOVE my eBooks,
1) I don\'t curl up with a laptop, all of my eBooks are on my palm pilot, not a whole lot smaller that your average paperback!
2) The ability to read in bed without a book light, my Palm is back lit. I can read in bed while my light sleeper hubby.... Sleeps.
3) Do you know how hard it is to carry around 15 paperback in your purse? Or heck even two, I am never without a book even if I finish the one I am reading I have another right there.
4) Great for waiting in line, on the phone at the doctors, while my kids are in TKD.
5) I can read what ever I want when ever I want with out someone looking at the cover and being shocked that I am reading penthouse or other adult novels Yup ebooks have Porn!lol
6) Price, a little less than what I would pay going to a bookstore, and I can get them online, saving me gas and the drive to the bookstore.
7) Selection, If I can get it in paper back or hard back then it is a pretty good chance that I can get it in ebook, this is not 100% yet but its getting there, these days most newly published books are put into ebook also.
8) Space in my home. I have several hundred eBooks stored on my computer and backed up on disk in case of computer failure. I live in a small home. I would not be able to store that many books on book shelves (we already have my bedroom, and hallway lined with bookshelves) Plus I can find and download my books quickly and easily. Not so easy if I had to find them in my house.
As to the tactile opening a book and flipping the pages and the smell of a new book, I read my book with one hand, so if say I am holding a sleeping baby, I don\'t have to disturb the baby to flip the page!
I really don\'t miss the tactile or smell (no book bugs to deal with)
And I still get the excitement of starting a NEW book.

Heartily agree. I make books by hand though. I can even make the ink that I use to write in the books. Uber-nerdy. I can\'t stand reading long electronic works. I love the smell of a book (old or new) The creak of the spine the feel of heavy pages, the occasional misprint, it\'s all so wonderful. The book is the second greatest invention of man (writing being the first IMO). The language of books is so fascinating as well, quarto, octavo, \"elephant folio\":flip::flip:
