Freehand on Inquisitor minis

Just recently I submitted my first 54mm scale mini. Currently have around 40 of them to do for a customer. My biggest thing that I notice is that there is a lot more layers to blending and room to do so. The second, is the room for freehand graphics and such. I was wondering the best way to start for orientation, such as celtic nots and designs. Should I just freehand brush it or is there a better way? Since pencils sometimes don`t show up due to color.

This is my first one and am working on Delphian Gruss at this time. Any suggestions welcomed.

If you can get in close enough, one trick that might work is to do the design at the size it\'s supposed to be on the mini. Cut out the strip and tape it parallel to where it\'s to be painted. Having the design so close might be enough where you could \'transfer\' it accurately without actually drawing it on the mini.
