oooh,oooh, can I be the jerk and the first one to say I think this sounds like a really bad idea?

I really only see it doing 2 things.

Increase the already present feeling of elitism on the site and in the forums

Increase the number of useless posts from post padding...

And I really don\'t see any reason for it other than...well, to increase the feeling of elitism

ok, just my opinion, now proceed :D

Eric, everyone knows the Freaks aren\'t an \"elite\", we\'re just the ones most obsessed with posting. I believe there are Freaks who don\'t even have minis posted on the site! Maybe the Lounge is not so much an elitist hangout as a \"honeypot\" to drag us post whores away from the REAL discussions.

I agree with you entirely, Eric, I question the wisdom of a freek\'s forum too. There\'s nothing so heady about freak talk that it can\'t be done in General Discussion.

It might actually decrease post-padding somewhat, because those who talk the biggest load of crap here won\'t be giving as much opportunity to the non-freaks, but that\'s just optimistic thinking. lol

Perhaps this is Chern Ann\'s divide-and-conquer strategy?

Edit: And thanks, Eric, I wasn\'t quite ready to be the first nay-sayer. :)

Hmmm...

I also share Eric J and Modderrhu\'s concerns. Chern Ann is still busy beavering away on the site as we speak however, so while he is at work we may well experience one or two halucinations as it were...:flip:

Well, the only thing that i\'m a bit afraid of is that the activity on the general forum (and maybe, perhaps on the painting forum too?) will go down quite a bit when the \'other\' forum is there. While i don\'t post much, i like the place, it has a nice active community, freaks and non-freaks alike.

For the defence of the idea I think the symbolic of it is just plain fun. I figure in the long run it\'ll just serve to anounce who became a freak, the rest will continue in the open access area.

Come on, we\'re all grown ups (or should be, as stated in the sign up clause). And if somebody ever starts a subject in the freak lounge that could benefit to the community, the moderators could always move it to the right area.

I think in some respects it could be a good idea if it was also open to those that support the site as well as just threaks.

Maybe as a thankyou to offer freaks and supporrters something for their time and effort.

But on the whole I think I have to agree with Eric and to be honest would we really use it when we have the aabundance of all the other threads???

There can\'t be too much danger about dereased activity on the general forums due to the presence of the freak lounge, there are far too many active posters who aren\'t freaks for the general forums to collapse.

Freaks all talk simple bollocks anyways.lol

Perhaps Chern Ann has seen all the ridiculous posts about the hypothetical freak\'s washroom and bar and thought he\'d do something nice for the freeks. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, it is a fun idea, but perhaps more detrimental than realised at first. There is already an existing air of separation between freaks and non-freaks.

I must have been to stupid to notice :D

Although I must admit the last 100 or so posts to make freak was treated as a must do before that I just enjoyed (and still do) joining in with the other threads.
