French Flair aka the Allan and Cyril effect

Now I\'ve seen a lot of GD\'s in my time (scratches chin stubble) infact I think I\'ve seen most of the winners of most of the Comps, but I have never seen anything like the standard of mini\'s that these two and others in the French GD have put up this year!

Does anyone else think that this was possibly the best set of GD winners ever? Or is that just me?

Yes - I\'m blown away. I agree with you completely. I really, really hope to see an article or advice on how to do metallics like they do them.

(this makes me think it would be best to skip GD Toronto 2004 and spend more time to prep for 2005 shows instead. These entries make me embarassed about my own stuff.)

I totally agree with the metallics comment

What really gets me is the standard of the metallics and the lighting effects. They just take painting to stupidly ridiculous new levels.

Well, as long as they stay on their side of the pond the Americans should be able to still get their own GD\'s....even if they wouldn\'t even make the cut in the French comp. Silly French

Some of us don\'t keep on top of what\'s going on or are just plain lazy so I haven\'t a clue what all the fuss is about! I wanna see some pics so I can throw a tantrum and strip all my models (again).

Don\'t worry you have to go far. Just go to the top ten of the week section, I think that more than half of the pics there belong to cyril and allan.

I have to agree that what they do is just plain amazing. Incredible. Eye popping. Jaw dropping.

And they were so kind to write articles about their techniques in French.
I\'ll try to translate a few of them if I can get their authorization...

This is why I wanna see the Evil One enter the France GD, best she could possibly hope for is Silver in my opinon. lol
But this is what you get when you have a whole country going to one GD. Anyone else notice the quality going down slightly the more they open here in the US?

I think comparing the size of the US and France you gotta say that America deserves at least an east and west coast GD!!

Well, if we\'re going by area/GD ratio, Europe still beats America \'cause of the Italain, Spainish, German, British GD\'s being closer to each other. Anyways, I\'m still ticked off about being so far away from any US GD. OPEN ONE IN DALLAS!!!

I think you\'d need somthing like 50 differnet GD to have the same game day per area ratio. But if you do it by population I think it would amount to a lot less. I wonder why they still haven\'t hoppened one in NYC,after all the NY are pop makes up for about a third of the population of france So their has to be some gamers in there.

Well my big beef is GW tends to overlook the southwest.. and maybe even the middle of this country. I believe the only official GW shop near me is in Phoenix, AZ. But then again, I live in a backwater filled with vampires ala Dusk till Dawn..

Yeah, but then presumably you\'re closer to ReaperCon. I\'d consider that a wash. I wish I had the moolah to go to either Reapercon or GenCon.
