fun with guns

one of the things i like best about alaska, is that shootin\' guns is just an everyday activity here...
when the stress of deadlines, and paint schemes gets to be too much, a few hours at the range always gets me back in the mood to paint...

this is a russian saiga 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun...basically an a.k.-47 body with a shotgun barrel, and a 10 round magazine...makes a big boom...

this is my smith & wesson 9mm...
the \"pop gun\" of the collectionlol...

here\'s a nice italian .45...

finally, the classic .45 barretta...

all in all, a fun day at the range, even if the shotgun did kick my ass...after about 50 rounds, my shoulder was ready to fall off...
i think that forgeworld should make a version of this shotty for their guard minis...it\'s just too cool lookin\'...

I\'m not surprised your shoulder was hurting from that shotgun. Your shooting posture was terrible.
The recoil would have been putting extra stress on a twisted posture, you\'d have been far better aligning yourself along the direction of the barrel instead of across it.
Your right foot would have been better off behind the mass of your body and bringing the stock of the weapon closer to your chest.

If I recall my Godfather and Fathers instructions correctly you \"lean into\" a Shotgun or Rifle.

Having said that yor posture on the Smith & Wesson & the Italian .45 is far better.


And Man those are some \"Dreads\".
Hope you enjoyed some responsible recreational target practise.

hahah you lucky motherf**ker, i swear, if only i was so lucky. I aint got the money for shooting when i get tired of mini painting, a buck a round for 30.06 just aint practical. Make matters worse, i got a 357 lever gun i havent even got a chance to shoot yet. Anyways, cool stuff man! How is that Auto shotgun? ive seen those on gun broker, always wanted to try one. Whats the capacity on the mag? ive seen some of those with big drum mags, and their like 50 or so, so thats gotta be like 20-25 rounds?

i can see why people hate guns and can\'t understand why others enjoy shooting them. personally , would love to have a go on a few on a range, must be very stress relieving!

Have to agree with DR on the posture with that shot gun in fact I am surprised your shoulder didn\'t ache like hell after 10 rounds stood like that.

I don\'t like guns, myself. But I take consolation that there are people out there that use them responsibly. On a range. There\'s way too many stories in the news of people using them on eachother.

And if it helps you relax, then I\'m glad you enjoyed yourself.

that shotgun picture was probably taken as i was about halfway through the 10-round clip...when i shot off the full clip semi-auto, it kicked me back a step or two in the middle there...
surprisingly enough, i shoot much better with rifles than pistols...i don\'t miss much with the SKS, but the pistols frustrate me a bit, thus the serious expression on my face in the italian .45 pic...
as for ammo, i inherited a huge box of 12-guage, .45, 9mm, and .22 ammo...
the two .45\'s have switch out barrels to take .22 as well...makes for a much cheaper day at the range...

You can tell the shotgun has a hefty kickback due to where he is aiming, becuase with the pistols he is aiming downwards, but the shotgun is pointing up.

Makes me want to move to Alaska..

All the pictures showed to me that the aiming points were at probably differing targets and target proximity.
Same target will have same aiming profile to achieve the correct ballistic trajectory onto the target.

Point your right foot at the target. That will help with the recoil. Lean into it.

I\'m with Hands of Blue here. I prefer weapons that are fast and for close range.

Also they keep you more healthy, cause it needs lots of training and includes movement to f.e. wield nunchaku or chinese sabers at fast speed correctly.
At the same time you can also hurt your shoulder or finger and other parts of your body real bad if you do something wrong.

Nice hair by the way, how long did it take to get such long dreads?

And last: Great landscape you have there in the back of the photos! lol

hey jike...

usually my physical trainin\' is all done in the ocean...i\'ve been away from the beach for just over a year, and can\'t wait to get back...i\'m a danger junkie, and just love the challenge of ridin\' a 20\' wave that can crush me!!!

this is my second set of dreadlocks...its been 11 years since my last haircut...i\'ve only had 1 haircut in the last 16 years...

fairbanks is a nice lookin\' town as far as wilderness goes...moose walkin\' through town, and beaver right next to my house... huge ravens in my driveway all the time...aurora in the sky when it\'s dark, and beautiful sunsets at midnight right now...

no bunnies were hurt on the day, as i\'m a vegetarian...maybe next time i\'ll blast a tofurkylol...

Aurora Borealis? Thats something I always wanted to see sometime.

11 years, respect man. Most of the dreads start to look ugly and break after 4 years.

We have mountains here, so I used to go snowboarding (and skateboarding) for years. But it became so expensive to go to good locations. So I stopped that.
But once you have inhaled some kind of surf feeling your view on life changes, at least it did for me.


Be careful. I heard tofurkies are nasty little buggers. Better run when you see one.
