Fungus Among Us

Nearing completion of this WIP. The Myconid is from Grenadier, and I think the Shrieker is a Heritage figure. The little mushrooms are not finished, and I need to touch up a few spots elsewhere, but I mainly want an opinion about whether to leave the base metallic as is, or to paint it. If painted, what color? I was thinking that traditional black might make the overall piece too dark.

Nice diorama. I would advice painting the base black as the metallic probably distracts attention away from the piece. I know you were worried it might darken it but I\'d say it\'s a big enough diorama not to be effected in that way. However, if you ever do a Lord Of The Rings Diorama, you\'ve found the perfect basing idea here as that\'s what it reminded me of straight away.

or dark brown.
Personally I prefer a very dark brown base over black.

The shiny base would work with some other models though and would be uncommon.

great idea! mushrooms always get tacked on to the greats, but never get props themselves. love the evil myconid, and is that a violet fungus?

@funnymouth - not sure what a violet fungus is, but I did paint the Shrieker violet! I think that mini came from a Heritage Dungeon Dwellers set from long ago.

Also, they are posted in finished form so please take a look!
