Funniest thing you\'ve heard in a GW store.

Why don\'t you just make stuff up?

\"Yeah, I collect the new Undead Orc army, I\'ve got about 5000 points so far, including the war griffon chariot\" lol

I don\'t have a GW anywhere close, but my local shop pretty much GW in atitude. First I would say that I have never brought one of my minis down there - they have never seen how I paint.
I asked them if they had any plan hosting a painting comp any time soon, the manager :duh: said year maybe they would - was I planning on entering if they were. \" yes sir\" I said in my boyish voise. He looked at me and said: You just have to remember that good painters also enters such competitions - and the STAFF can also enter..........................
I got so scared I\'m not sure if I ever dare enter a comp at their shop:bouncy:

I dont really go into the Stoke store much, what with it being on the other side of the city but theres this time Simon, the full timer completely convinced a kid that theres a squig kept in the cellar which guards the store at night and follows new staff members home and eats all thier paints and tools so they have to keep stealing them from the store

And unforgettably, walking into the LGS to find a pair of the other customers reenacting the Luke/Vader fight from Empire Strikes Back in the middle of the shop. Suffice to say, I never went in on Star Wars Miniatures night again

Funniest is what happens inside my own head though. Its like Scrubs. \"Can I have a Foundation Mechrite Red please?\" \"Sure, here you go. What are you painting at the moment then?\" \"Warmachine! No wrong company! Mobile Infantry! Eep! Romans! Arggg! Wrong again! Think man! Think!\" \"Errr. just some Space Marines\" And off I scurry, into the night.

well I\'ve been tagged \"painter\" in my local GW store, so they just ignore me when I come in, they make me wait for half an hour before they accept to cash in my purchases, and never talk to me (which is the good part).

Yeah, that pretty much sums up French customer service.

Yeah, I just read a great book, by stephen clarke called \"talking to snails\" where he describes how to survive in France, one chapter is on beeing served, I laughted my way through the whole thing. It\'s so true that the french conception of service is a bit different then in the US

I love the way the staff wear their blinkers, the new products are always the best so far. try telling them that you prefered the previous encarnation.
In general have to say that the people in GW VAlencia seem fairly straight up. it\'s the prepubesant kids that get on my nerves, but I guess we\'ve all been there.

actually, like ritual, my local store is ok. one of the staff members openly admits to gaming with war machine stuff rather than gw as he prefers it. although one gets REALLY nervous if you mention another company (as if he thinks someone is watching!!)

having said that, my housemate went to pick up a book from there once (she\'s so brave) and immediately had every member of staff rush up to ask her if she needed help, bless.

as has been said, it\'s normally the customers who are the problem, not the staff

@swordwind, you will get on with brian (bolton store manager) as he used to do reanactment (before kids etc took away his spare time/money)

Its not that funny, but my son (4yrs old) blew away one of the clerks (but don\'t know if he was just blowing smoke). He was shocked when he asked my son if he knew what a box on the wall had. Derrick correctly identified the Tyranid Genestealers.

It wasn\'t really that impressive. He keeps beating the snot out of me when we play. But this guy was floored that someone that young could identify something. Obviously, he doesn\'t have a child and has never been corrected when you misidentify something the kids seen on TV.

The only time I\'ve been in a GW store was when I was visiting DR in England - and I have to admit the experience was quite nice.

No good quotes however.

Thankfully the guy was a friend of mine, and not a complete nob.

Plus my gf had big boobs, which also works.

Back in the \'80\'s when I still looked like the St Pauly Girl....guys looking at my chest...\"wow. look at those!\"

Or just couldnt read.lol

Now that\'s funny!

He did pass along a tip for anybody with the blessing/curse of young children who want to paint as well. He said that the manager of the store assembled some figure for his 2 year old and then gave her washable paints to paint it with. That way, when she was finished, just dunk it under the tap for a few, and just like that its ready to painted again.

Iv\'e fallen into the \"painter\" category at my store so a couple of the guys shit shoot the breeze time and again.
There IS, however, the token eejit. You know they guy, head up his arse, mind in the clouds....Asumes the identities of all the minis and converses with them....

Usual suspect
