Funniest thing you\'ve heard in a GW store.

Kid points at mixing pot (empty paint pot if you don\'t already know.) \"What\'s that paint?\"

Me: \"That\'s invisible paint\" (Expecting a \'yeah, right\' response.)

Kid: \"Is that what you painted the invisible Frodo with?\"

Me (trying to keep a straight face): \"Yeah\"

Kid: \"Cool!\"

Another gem was, after showing a kid where the ork nobs were, getting asked, \"Do you have any bigger ones?\"

just discovered this thread..thanks for all this stories..lol

the funniest things that i ever heard of was this guy who played with his marines vs. imperial guard. the imp player moved 5 imp soldiers and let them shot at 5 termies. he hits and wounds all 5 termies (laser rifles!). the marine player smiled, took his dices for the armor saves ..and failed tem all.
the guy just stared at his minis, grapped them, went outside the store , smashed then on the ground and started jumping up and down til nothing was left but tiny bits. he needed definitly a shrink and a course in anger management

When I still lived in Sheffield (in a bit which wasn\'t underwater) I used to go to the GW in town occasionally. The staff at the time had superglued a 50p piece to the ground outside the shop so when people saw it they would bend down and try to pick it up and obviously fail.

Hillarious for a couple of weeks until one guy walked past, bent down, tried to pick it up, realised it was stuck, got a HUGE pair of scissors out of his bag and proceded to chissel it off the pavement .

It must have taken him at least five minutes, all the while we were all sitting at the painting table with horrified expressions thinking that we\'d be next.

They never did it again.....

@ Farin That didn\'t happen to be in a GW grand tournament? If it was I think I know the guy, though I can\'t imagine him getting irate about it.

Well i must say my local store (harrogate) has a had some classic moments.
my personal favourite is when 2 chavs came in and said to our now ex manager ( he didn\'t get fired for this mind you)\" Oi long hair whats the cheapest thing you got in your F**cking gay shop?\"
and he replied with \" oh i dunno either your mum or your sister i had them both last night. Do you feel lucky?\" and before they could react he threw a nice big handful of dice at them.
Then when again our ex manger convinced somone his wolf lord could use a lascannon.
when one of the staff played dot to dot on the freckles on my arm.
and finally in the 30th white dwarf year anaversary painting comp in the fantisy painting catagory there where 2 entries mine and a friends and another of the regulars said to my firend that lost to me \" oh comeing second out of 2 isn\'t bad\"

Hang on a second. Shouldnt he have punished the dice, not the minis? ???

well, normal people would have blamed the dices, bad karma (too much yelling at the yu-gih-oh kids ?) or bad luck. that`s why in my opinion this guy really needs help

by the way i remember one time a friend who works for a game store sold this huge rackham dwarfen army to that kid - about 100 dollar in tin.
one day later that kid is back in the store crying.why ? because his 4 year old brother had discovered a new hobby - take a hammer and try how many times you have to hit a mini `til it`s broken. my friend tried to glue the minis, but even he had problems to find out which part was what (\" hey that could be a nose - or a finger\")

@Bengoodall:

dunno how many times it takes, but as my brother has been this age his hobby was to throw heavy wooden bricks (not that lego stuff!) at me. normally it took him only one hit to make me bleed- he always aimed for the head and from a distance of only 2 meters it`s actually not that hard to hit the bull´s eye ( my forehead )

This didn’t happen in a GW store, but it happened in our LGS in Mobile. There were a bunch of 13 and 14 year old kids who started coming out to the shop. They were actually pretty good. The boys were always talking about how hot this one kid’s sister. They saw her at a sleep over and they, of course, did nothing but talk about how she looked. Much to the chagrin of the kid.

One day the door opens and this stunning blonde walks in. The room got dead silent and told the kid they would be back to get him in a few hours. Everyone was looking at me waiting for me to say something. The kids and I had a running (friendly) teasing war going on. After she walked out I said, “Holy crap! That’s the sister?!? Can I sleep over?” Everyone started laughing. I don’t think anyone gamed for two or three minutes because we were laughing. Don’t worry, she was 19. :innocence:

I just saw this. Something similar happened during our Mordheim league. Its funny how all of this weird stuff happened right before I moved to Canada.

This one guy (he has been my friend since high school) had the curse of rolling ones. He lost like three games in a row because his war band kept breaking. He bought a cheap 99cent lighter, took war band (all GW plastics) and started melting them in the store. Someone stopped him only when they reminded him how much the minis cost.

Before the Mordheim incident, this same guy was going on and on about how the new 3rd edition rules were geared to sell more vehicles and people couldn’t win unless they fielded tons of vehicles. The same kid from my earlier story challenged him to a game. The kid played IG without any vehicles, my friend played Iyanden (all of those 3rd edition Wraithlord). The kid beat him in three rounds. Why? He refused to use wave serpents and tried to walk his army to the fight. The IG just sat back and blew them away. After the game, he packed up his stuff and didn’t come back for three weeks. He was back maybe a month before the Mordheim incident happened.
