Have you thought about explainig that most of the things they see on TV are not real?

Well as a mother of a young child, I was thinking of kids who would see this. I don\'t think they\'re first thoughts would be, \"Wow, that was good CGI!\". I\'m afraid it would be, \"Wow, that was funny! Let\'s go slam the neighbor\'s cat\'s head in a car door and see if it\'s as fun!\"

Making it looks as realistic as possible is disturbing. If it wants to be funny, IMO, it should try instead to look UNrealistic.

I never have liked Fords,
and now I like them even less...

I really didn\'t find this add funny. It\'s not so much because it shows violence against an animal ( not that I\'m for that ) but the way they make it go on for so long is just sickening. And I definetly agree that this could have been funnier if more exagerated to make it less real looking.

I didn\'t see it as any more offensive than the recent Fosters adverts with the guy getting his head bitten off by a crocodile. I agree they could have done it in a way that was more funny rather than sick, (the pigeon one was more amusing). Thats probably why it was an abandoned concept. ;)

Hm. strange ad. I had somewhat of a morbid chuckle, but.... to be really funny, the cat would have to be really, really mangled, with the violent acts coming quicker and quicker. Currently it is somewhat... strange.

I saw it as \"shockingly funny\"
You know, one of those situations where it really isn\'t funny but you cant help but laugh.
That same humor is what I found hilaroius about the movie \"Pulp Fiction\".
When John Travolta turns around in the car and accidentally blows the head off the guy in the back seat was one of my favorite parts of the movie. Not because someone died, but because of the situation. note that had it been real, I would have been horrified
I do have to agree though that children should not be seeing something like this without at least the input of a parent.

Good. Question.
I would say.... no.
Reason being is that I have always considered this site as PG-13.
With as many nude miniatures and everything that is discussed here, it was never really suited for children any younger thatn that.
And lets be honest. How many young children really see this site without their parents.
Its not MTV or Nickelodeon. There are no Barneys (Praise be to God) or Telletubbies here.
Theres no games,
Nope, theres just alot of those figures that mommy or daddy paint and plays that stupid game that doesnt even have a joystick.
No young kid is interested in what is going on in the forums, and the figures may hold their attention for 5 minutes tops.
I say so long as the content is PG-13, were ok.

This is not a children\'s site....

It is a site for committed, mature mini fans, painters, collectors whatever.

Please don\'t ask us all to behave in case a \'child\' might rear it\'s ugly head at any minute....

Adults come here to chat and talk...maybe even to get away from children?

It\'s up to parents to moderate their child\'s internet access, not mild \'innocent\' sites such as this.

IMO:D

Sorry, I didn\'t mean to be ageist

I do understand that some people might not find this funny, but it is only one step on from Tom and Jerry, Itchy and Scratchy etc. It\'s cartoon humour. I can\'t apoligise for finding it funny, I do accept that it\'s not to everyone\'s taste, but I see no reason for banning such items.

Each to their own.....No cat was actually harmed in the filming of this commercial:D

And your well within your right to think that it is funny. Anyone who tells you to renounce your opinion is...

Well lets not go into that. lets just say they\'re the kind of people \'nobody expects\' ;););) .

lol, children shouldn\'t be here! there are TOO many erotic figures er... \"artistic\" figures.

So I always assume rated R at the least.

If you mean the example of taking the video a bit farther.

I was trying to make light of the subject, Duende was saying that an exagerated version that was less realistic would have a lesser effect. Well in my exagerated version, I think more people would have been offended.

personaly if it was gory I would have laughed harder.

I think you misunderstood me earlier, Smoth (way back on page 1). By \"unrealistic\", I meant in reference to the cat itself. The cat looks, acts, and moves just like a real cat (and it probably IS just footage of a real cat).

I meant that the cat should be less realistic to make it more humorous and less offensive. Like Finn observed, violence on cats like Tom and Jerry, and Itchy and Scratchy is funny because they\'re so NOT real, they\'re cartoons!
I just think it wouldn\'t be so offensive to so many people if the cat was more \"cartoony\".

I also just want to get across that by \"making it more unrealistic\", I didn\'t mean add unusual amounts of gore and splatter. Please, there\'s enough of that on the daily news.

Just wanted to clear that up.

AH! I get you!

like the cat flipping off the car? or maybe showing it\'s face on the inside with eyes bulging out? Perhaps even the cat getting back up opening the door and putting it\'s head on only to put it on backwards????

I first saw the commerical as the window breaking the cat\'s neck -- making it seem 100% realistic. That\'s what made me sick to my stomach.
