Future of Dark Sword Miniatures w/ the passing of D. Mize

Most of us know about the passing of D. Mize. The mini community lost one its more well known member who has done alot for this hobby. One of the first Partha figs I painted was sculpted by him.

I think asking this question is ok. Now he was one of the major Sculpters for Dark Sword miniatures. With his passing what will that do to their future product. I have not seen anything new from them in some time and thier releases where stuff that I had seen over a year ago.

I know Mier did some of the sculpting but he seems to be busy with is own T-bolt Mountain figs.

The Darksword site has its own forums and the owner does answer questions there, so you might try posing the question there? They also have an email announcement list you can sign up for, and a section of the site where they post new greens and the like.

The latest batch of Tom Meier work, Parkinson boxed set #3, has just been finished. I was pleased to be able to pick it up at GenCon, along with a resculpt of one of the figures as a Con special. Also on display was the green of the latest dragon sculpted by Dave Summers that really impressed me, and I\'m not normally tempted by dragons as I\'m a slow painter and I\'m not sure I\'d ever be able to finish one. There were two or three other greens on display, I\'m not sure who they were sculpted by and they aren\'t posted yet, but they were as superb as usual.

Nice link Wren, my pocket book is not going to like you though. :D I like the Northwatch Dragon and Rider although I am not fond of the paint job at all. I have the picture it is based on as my desktop wallpaper. :D

Drake, if you ever have a go at the Northwatch Dragon, let me know so I can go take a look!

I contacted Jim over at Dark Sword, and he asked me to pass along that not only is Dark Sword miniatures still going strong, but also he has plans to continue the Elmore line. He\'s in the process of finalizing selection of a sculptor to continue on with the line. I don\'t envy that person the job of filling Dennis\' shoes, but I have confidence in Jim to select someone up to the task.

The Dark Sword site has been updated with lots of GenCon stuff, but in particular there\'s another peek at some new stuff about half-way down this page. I forgot to mention this slew of very nice smaller dragons on display at the con.
