futuristic scythe and mechanical angel wings: how could i make them?

I am converting up a space marine army that I am calling the Angels of Death. The theme or at least visual theme of the army is the grim reaper. With that concept in mind, I want convert up scythes for the close combat weapons including a large scale scythe for a dreadnought. I want to make them look like they belong in the 40K world instead of seem like my army is using medieval weaponry. Any ideas on how to do this or if there is a model range that makes something i could use?

Next topic. Another idea that I thought would be cool from a conversion perspective was to have a winged assault squad. At first I was looking at actual angel or bird wings, but then I decided that it wouldn\'t make sense for a normal space marine to magically have wings, even as cool as it might look. So what I want to do is try to make some mechanical looking wings based on the shape of angel or bird wings (think archangel from x-men) Same question; how can I build/sculpt/convert these or is there a miniature that has similar wings that I could use?

well for the scythes there\'s a SM WIP who has a scythe right now, can\'t remember the name of the thread but you should find it easy, somthing about a fast SM.

And you could probably use the same technique that where used with swords in the 40k universe. add some wires, small electric looking items, and call them power scythes :)

And for the mechanical wing there used to be a company that did mini with mechanical wings that could be used or serve as inspiration, I think it was Ikore not sure though.

i think i figured out how i\'m going to do the scythes or atleast the one for the dreadnought. i saw a converted grey knight with an axe instead of a halberd and that reminded me of the way the grey knight halberds are modeled with the blade attached or kinda coming out of the storm bolter. i\'m going to model my scythe like that since i needed to find a way to attach the storm bolter anyways. the dreadnought entry does list \"dreadnought close combat weapon with built in storm bolter\" afterall.
i did a few sketches to get idea and for one of them i drew a scythe with all straight angles no roundness which i thought looked very sci-fi or futuristic and it will fit with the overall boxy shape of the dreadnought.

I would suggest Spyre band wings from Necromunda line. I was painting them couple of days ago - looked pretty mechanical to me

wow those spyre wings look pretty good. how big would they be compared to a space marine? even though they are mechanical and not organic i still kinda want to have proportionate size to look like they could actually provide flight for that size of body.
