Martyn is bringing some Nelson\'s Blood (I have no idea what that is though ... some type of wine ?) from what I\'ve heard, so everybody should be able to have something depending on their taste, and I\'m sure we\'ll end up finding some beer :p.

He he are you in for a shocklol

Nelson\'s blood is actually rum not wine:D
After the battle of Traffalgar Nelson was put in a barrel of rum to stop him from decaying and smelling to badely for the trip back hence the name Nelson\'s blood :D

Not sure if I will be able to get hold of any \"Pusser\'s Rum\" or not but be asured I will get some decent stuff for you all to try :D

Nelson was transported in French brandy!!!!! NOT rum, there is a Rum CALLED Nelsons blood!!! Its called that because just AFTER his death there were lots of people selling booze that was supposed to have some of the Brandy init (give sailers strength and all that) usually Rum (because ALL sailers got a \'tot\' as part of their ration).

French brandy, because was a symbol of his victory OVER the French and Spoils of war.

Now we\'ve got that straight....

There goes 29 years of Naval service where I was lead to believe it was rum he was pickled in, oh well :D

Still tastes as bad as ever and needs a fire engine to extinguish the flames though :D

My dad\'s an amateur \'Naval historian\', funny to say he was a \'crap fat\' (RAF to the uninitiated).

Just done a quick bit of research :D Not saying you were wrong Donga I wanted to clarify it for myself so I now know what i should have known before :D

Appologies to the people who find this offensive but it is a part of UK History even if not relevant to this thread :D

This is taken from an account of the battle of Traffalgar from a website of the Nelson Society the full account can be read

HERE

An uneducated seaman, James Bayley, wrote from the ship to his sister, telling his story of the battle and the death of Nelson: \"It was his last words that it was his lot for me to go but I am going to Heaven, but never haul down your colours to France for your men will stick to you — them words was to Capt. Hardy and so we did — for we came off victorious and they have behaved well to us for they wanted to take Ld. Nelson from us, but we told Capt., as we brought him out we would bring him home, so it was so and he was put into a cask of spirits.\"

Nelson\'s body was preserved first in a cask of brandy — at Gibraltar, this was changed to spirits of wine — lashed to the mainmast and guarded day and night by a marine sentry as his cabin had been. The news was being carried to England by the schooner Pickle, her ensign flying at half-mast, in the form of the first despatch written by Collingwood on the day after the battle. This did not begin with news of the great victory which would change the course of history, but the death of one man. \"Sir,\" he had begun writing to the Secretary of the Admiralty. \"The ever to be lamented death of Vice-Admiral Lord Viscount Nelson, who, in the late conflict with the enemy, fell in the hour of victory, leaves me the duty of informing my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty..

ME

Waves hand in air. I have cleaned them all up (my entry has about 30 bits to it) but thats as far as it goes I have two Wardancers to do for Tracy and then I can hit it properly once I have finished decorating my Office/Hobby room that is.

I am hoping to have started by Wednesday or Thusday of this week the latest :D

Still not sure how I am going to get the damn thing together though and look righ. It seemed like a good idea at the time now I wish I hadn\'t thought of it lol Don\'t ask because I am not telling you can all wait to see it as a supprise on the day or as a mangled mess if I mess it up :D

You are of course aware Mike that you wrote the exact opposit in her other thread?

I\'ve been told that sleep does wonders ;).
YES but last year at something like 05:00 I got a text message to say Tammy wasn\'t going as her figure had encountered the wall travelling at high velocity.
Then 20 minutes later another to say she was.
Then Phone calls in the queue to ask where are you,
where are you,
where are you?

You know it really is like having her for a daughter..........Oh I\'m soooooooo dead when she reads this.lollollollol

Shaz;
typing too fast hit the return instead of the tab key and posted up empty thread.
EDIT works wonders but not fast enough to beat the speedy Fizl.
