No GD Canada either. Not the end of the world, and I can't really complain as I made it to none of the GD Canada's over the years. Hopefully we get one back in following years.

Hmm interesting. Well I suppose it's a good way for GW to make some money in one location, brings all of the painters together and helps with consisentcy in rules. Can't complain too much. Oy judging could take forever though.

I know right?!

Well good thing I started on some of my entries already. Thanksgiving weekend I am looking forward to getting at least one of them finished. Then all of December while I'm out of school is all about Demon entries.

This year is gonna be crazy. But I'm glad they chose August gives me more time.

True dat, I have to really push myself this year. I already finished one of my entries, but i think i may have to display him on a big display base to make the model stand out more if there are going to be sooo many amazing people there

Looks pretty definite that I won't be making the trek to Games Day this year. I'd rather take a trip out to GenCon Indy. While nothing's written in stone, it's just hard for me to justify two trips in two weeks.

I can understand that. I am more inclined to keep trying my hand at golden demon. Once I win a demon then I may try some other contests. Plus it's a good reason to get my butt back home to see the family.

You'll be missed Jess if you won't be making it! I always enjoy seeing you and everyone else who makes it out.

This is gonna be one hell of a games day. At least I hope so! I'd like to see the success of Games Day as it is a fun event.

I'll be there for sure!! Already got one entry done and a few more in the works, amongst other stuff. I'm just glad it wasn't scheduled for May, so I can get a few extra months in to finish up some stuff as this winter is a bit nuts~~

No Canada, though... I suppose it was coming to this after GW US and GW Canada became one administrative unit but I am not sure that this is wise. Essentially Canadians will be cut off or channeled to Europe.

Most likely I will be there, after all it is almost next door. I even understand the timing (to be far away enough from Adepticon), although middle of the summer would be less stressfull.

So august 21 just happens to be the day my baby girl turns 1 year old. Unless I can somehow convince my wife to have her party on Friday or Sunday I don't see my self making it this year. It figures since this year I was actually gonna try painting something beyond tabletop quality and entering. =/

I can't believe that there is only one GD this year. I too better get started on my entries. I was a little upset last year that I didn't win anything, but atleast I made it up to the final cut. If I can achieve that this year with all the great painters, I would be pretty excited to know that I got close :)

Can't wait to see all the cool entries this year.

Well, I was looking forward to going back to Toronto this year, but since I have no interest in going to Baltimore or really any other east coast cities any time soon, I can worry a bit more about trying to get some tickets to the UFC event in Vancouver ~June 12. Hooray :p

Boooooooo

I think this is a sad and pathetic thing. We Canadians deserve to have our own event. The thing that made GD special to me is that it had always seemed to be unique to which ever region it was held in. I enjoyed the notion of collecting Golden Demons from different regions. It set benchmarks and milestones... challenges. The only word I have for this GD is overwhelming. There are way too many spectacular painters in all of North America for one single painting competition. Midas well buy a lotto ticket. I'd have better chances of winning that.

Does anybody know if GW will be doing a Demon Lounge again this year? I thought that was a fantastic idea last year. Especially since I get to pick apart all of the great painters' brains :)

If you have that kind of attitude, then I'd put down the painting brush before even starting. In the UK GD we have people come over from all over europe as well as all over the UK. And its tough cos the UK is the base of operations. I don't let that stop me from trying. Good luck to all the people who are going to try. Have a good GD.
