Got the email today. Says it is going to be held at the Mephis battle bunker and is limited to 1000 tickets.

"Games Day is a worldwide celebration of collecting Citadel Miniatures where you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in all aspects of the Games Workshop hobby.

You will get to:

• Be inspired by "the Best" with Golden Demon, Armies on Parade and other exclusive competitions.

• Step into the worlds of Games Workshop and gain glory and honour as you conquer uncharted realms of battle in several gaming areas.

• Challenge your hobby knowledge and take it to the next level with interactive experiences led by studio guests and hobby experts.

Whatever your inspirations, challenges, or callings within the Games Workshop hobby, you will be able to find what you need for your collection at the Games Day store. It will be full of miniatures, hobby supplies, limited Games Day items, Forge World, Black Library, and the exclusive 2013 Games Day Miniature (to be revealed at the show).

Tickets for this exclusive event go on sale April 20th for $50 and are extremely limited. We only have 1,000 available. So, if you plan on joining us at Games Day this year, don't wait to purchase your tickets!

July 27th, 2013 in Memphis, Tennessee -
Home of our North American Headquarters
and World of Battle Factory Store."

SERIOUSLY not trying to cause a rant here. But i wasn't under the assumption they had a lack of participation at 2012 Chicago. Bad PR finally hitting them ?

50 bucks? 1000 tickets? Bleh. I wasn't planning on attending before, and I'm really not now. Good luck GW. Just ax Games Day already.

Yeah, it would certainly appear that GW is phasing out Games Day. It's interesting, too, how they invite you to "be inspired" by Golden Demon. Not, y'know, "enter" Golden Demon. You gamer kids just stand on the sidelines and watch while the ol' pros show you how it's done.

Way to motivate the next generation, GW...

Well, at least I got my Finalist Pin before they phased out GD. Of course, now I have to worry about the competition at Crystal Brush, which makes US GD look like finger painting (no offense to the really awesome painters who enter GD - it's just that the floor is much higher in Crystal Brush)

Gd was phased out a few years ago in Australia... then last year they brought it back.
The last one I went to was about 10 years ago, so I really didn't miss it too much. I always thought they should have done it more like a Road-show. What do you guys reckon?

Hmm I, while being a dyed in the wool GW nay sayer, (because I like the idea of being a customer rather than a walking wallet and don't like paying for a magazine that has turned into an advertising bill board with all the subtlety of "Look ultra smurf/Orc!!! You Buy NOW!!!!!); have always disagreed with the doom Sayers predicting the demise of GW despite the many many f*****g stupid PR balls ups and blatant rip off commercial decisions ie Australian prices, southern hemisphere indie embargo, failcast sh*te to name but a few.

However seeing there flagship convention/sales/rip off merchandising event flounder internationally, well maybe the nay Sayers have something and finally GW really are starting to see their chickens come home to roost?

Are they at last starting to feel the effect of some of their piss poor decisions?

Dont know, what do People think? Is this the beginning of a seismic shift in the monolith that is Games Workshop?

They've limited GD Germany to 2000 in a similar manner. I'm curious to see if they're going to do it to the UK GD?

I actually think that there are changes happening within GW. Mark Wells stood down, the Facebook page got removed, there's been various stock ownership changes recently, the Chapterhouse case hits the court in the next week (15th) and now they appear to be limiting Games Day entries for at least two Games Days. It might be nothing but it wouldn't surprise me.
