I\'m pretty sure there are RPGs out their played by e-mail. I know I\'ve seen some over the years and some of them have websites with the background and the stories and such.

Wizards of the Coast was planning on having an online table you could subscribe at roughly WOW rates. Don\'t know if it came to anything (I hate 4e D&D), but you might want to look at Wizards.com.

The other option is to get your non-gamer friends to one or two games. My last gaming group was almost all people who never played until we invited them.

There are lots of online RPGs. They range form people using VOIP to actually play, some with video to roleplaying forums where people just reply to threads with what their characters are doing. A quick google search will find tons of these in all types of themes and Genres.

I\'m presonally looking forward to the D&D Insider stuff when it launches. The Virtual Tabletop with Virutual Dungeon Tiles and Virtual Minis just looks so sweet.

There are other virtual tabletop systems out there. Some seem pretty good. The one problem I have seen with all of them is they require the DM to do a ton of work just to get the game ready to play, though it does seem like work that only has to be done once during set up. It\'s just not something I have time for but may be worth looking into.

I\'ve also seen a lot of play online versions of CCGs and board games, though I can\'t remember any miniature games off hand.

Nothing pisses me off more than playing an opponent who doesn\'t respect my models! I played against a dude who ate chocolate covered peanuts -ate the chocolate than fished the now naked peanut from his mouth- and then would remove casualties from my units. I asked if he could stop handling my models, showed him the chocolate residue on my goblin model and he said \"Yeah, you gotta expect stuff like that at tournaments.\". He wiped out every unit in my army with his grey primered chaos army.

Guess what I gave him for sportsmanship? He\'s the reason why my figs get a gloss coat, matte coat, then a testor\'s dullcote just in case I meet his brother someday...

Oh, man! I don\'t get much painting done, but when I did have my MOSTLY completely painted army in a tournament once, I played an opponent just like that. I said \"it\'s MY responsibility to remove my minis, it\'s YOURS to make sure I\'m honest about it.\"

When playing D&D, we had to badger one player with \"PAINTED MINIS!\" exclamations enough that he finally started rolling his dice a little more carefully. Grrr...

Both, but due to co-ordination, more painting.

I DM D&D which I love....and we use painted models for combat, but most of them are above average, but nothing special. For Warhammer (lizardmen army, anxiously waiting the new update for lizards in feb 2009), I play maybe once/twice a year (although played first game in 3 years a month ago)...and most models are painted to the worst standard u can imagine (units are generally painted, 20 models in about 2 hours including basing!!!) hehe... heroes/monsters though look fairly good, and a couple models were painted for GD entries, so look well above average. (my carnosaur).

Paint alot though, mainly D&D models but this time for lizardmen, I will spend more time to make them look good just cause I hear the models are worth it :p

Friends always touch models via the base and tell new people if at a store and want to see my work up close...

personnaly ive never been that bothered about gaming, but i got the new sm codex. my whole local store is powergaming, but its all in good spirit. thers a long saga between 2 regulars. this sometimes ends up in one litteraly stabbing the other with a hobby knifelol once in the back, and then, on another time, in front of a police man. he didnt do anything, it pays to make the police force jon the hobbylol

I echo all the complaints about people manhandling minis. What I\'ve found has really hurt our cause is the pre-paints. I\'m the only one using a hand painted mini in the local RPGA campaign. Due to everyone using Pre-painted D&D minis no one has any skill and/or respect for my mini. They grab it up with a handful of scenery and other minis when clearing the map. Use the base of a pre-paint to knock my guy over when he\'s unconcious (which seem to happen too often). They happily grab him by the back and stack him on the pile of tokens representing marks and my bloodied status (which happens far far too often). Etc. Every single time I berate them and I\'m the one that gets dirty looks. I have a feeling that soon I will be asked to grab a pre-paint just so everyone else doesn\'t have to be careful with my minature. It drives me nuts. N V T S!

@Roger, it has nothing to do with gaming, their all pretty civil about that. no, what always kicks it off is the dispute where \"mothers\" get dragged in. and the guy with the knife is only 16lol they both love it, BUT NOT IN THAT WAY
