ok, i\'ve been getting a lot of pm\'s accross the boards asking how i paint red, and its about time i shared my secret with you.

As you can see i\'ve painted a lot of red in a short space of time to good consistent levels...

Recent projects like my red terrorr i acheived this with an airbrush, but not everyone has access to an air brush.

Stage 1. Black Undercoat.

Undercoat your mini black, touch up missed areas with black paint.

Stage 2. Materials.
I use Vellajo Game Colour paints, plus my secret mixing ingredient, which apart from a few people knew i used, until now! A bottle of Irn Bru.

Stage 3. Mixing.
Mix a few drops of Irn Bru into red gore. And apply to the model, should take 2 coats.

Stage 4. 2nd Shade - blood red.
Now mix Irn Bru into blood red. You should notice a little fizzing, once this has died down the chemical reaction has worked, you will now notice when you paint it on an increased vibrancy, and a slight opaqueness which aids blending, but heres the clever part, it still covers dark colours really well, this is due to the artificial colouring in the Irn Bru!

Stage 5. 3rd Shade - Blazing Orange
Repeat Stage 4 but with orange. Just look at the results!

Perhaps through brushlicking while drinking the Irn Bru stuff (I assume it\'s some kind of beverage... ???).

I often wonder if beer has any influence on the paints as sometimes when I paint there\'s bound to be some beer mixed to the paint due to me brushlicking... :innocent:

It is likely that the main player here is this bright orange food coloring they add to this drink, I am sure fanta, snaple or whatever else contains this stuff (look at the label) will do the job:)

Don\'t have a clue what IRN bru is but still cool article. thanks for sharing and taking the time to do an article. Now all you need to do is post it in the article section :)

It has nothing to do with the food colouring, its because its made in scotland from girders!!

Ingenious and incredibly effective! I tilt my hat to you sir!

hmm, me thinks there shall be many excuses for drinking now. \"no honey i dont like me having the whiskey either but i need it for this demon. Yes i have to drink some to check the consistency is right. I know it is a burden but it\'s all in the name of art this suffering\"

Erm time to come clean...

The whole thing is a spoof, i don\'t really paint using Irn Bru.
It started off by constantly getting pm\'s asking for help, so i thought i\'d have a \"little\" fun and play a prank.

Hope you see the funny side!

BTW, substitute Irn Bru for Water and that tutorial is exactly how i paint reds - promise :p

Well I\'m gonna try it ANYWAY - and if it works I claim all the credit :p

Fortunately I don\'t mind drinking it either... Just have to remember to drink the stuff without paint in it ... :p
