Gargantuan Iron Squiggoth

This has been a work in the making for going on three years. this piece was originally built by a bloke named Krooza on the-waaagh.com. he then sold it to a man named morfangdakka over at the same site as well. Morfangdakka then added bits and bobs all around and sent it to me. I received this beast on October 7th, as a commission from morfangdakka. i started by breaking the tail and the legs because it was a full piece. i then began by spray painting it and spent a total of 1 1/2 cans of spray paint on it. then it went onto the making of the colors for the base color. it started out with an airbrush basecoat consisting of 3 parts tausept ochre and 1 part scorched brown. ocne this was done, the painting began. during the entire time i worked on this i managed to work on one side at a time.

time spent total: 162 hours and 38 minutes. Yes i kept time. another thing to know is that this entire piece was painted with a windsor and newton series 7 size 1, 2 and a junkie old brush for washes.

Detail pics:-----> http://coolminiornot.com/239797

dimensions: 12 inches tall, 18 long, and 9 inches wide.

btw: the first pic shows every paint i used and the two cans of paint, AND the three brushes i used throughout this entire piece. yep: uberdark is a bit crazy......teeheee!!!!!

Still incredible, but I have to admit to a slight twinge of disappontment that you didn't build it as well.

Paintjob is still a stupendous achievement though. Congrats :D

Just incredible really, a great achievement.
Often you see these huge scratch built beasts and there just isn't a high enough level of detail and they don't look 'right'. This does not suffer from that in any way!

I paint my thumb.
Yes, you are indeed very crazy. I can't even compute the time it would take me to paint this, so many details.
It's painted at a pretty high standard too, though the end result is mindbuginlgy overwhelming and as no real focal point, which is probably impossible given the model itself.
Still quite a feat :D

How do you feel now this project is behind you, relieved or empty ?
I guess the only thing left for you to do is to go up there and paint god.

I was watching the progress in WAAGH.com and I must say that it is an absolute stunning work! Didn't you modified Krooza's original built with bits?

i added very little, morfangdakka kitted it out with bits...i was just hired to paint....i managed to lose a few guns and what not and went from there. but i still enjoy converting like any other mek. my next thing to tackle is a battlewagon....and i bought two for the fun of it. muwahahahaha!!!! ;)

This is niiiice. I like the blue accents especially. I think the highlighting on the blasts is the wrong way round though?

You'd almost think that it has the same size as a normal orc trukk... But then you see the orc in the picture and you are amazed. Lets do a duel between that iron squiggoth and a normal one:)

Not bad, I suppose. :snicker:

Seriously it was worth the time you put into it. Now sit down and relax.

EDIT: I think Bill's correct about the blasts, though.

happy to hear you say that. i wasn't a big fan. MAYBE 1, but both just doesn't look right. i bet it hurts to put this much effort in, and then just ship it off.

It definately is an insane piece. Much too busy and goofy, but that goes in well with the Ork-fluff.

However, the painting is very cool. I love the grittiness you add to it.
