For those of you who didn\'t know today was the GCSE result day for us kiddies!!

Good or bad I thought we could post results if you wish so and offer encouragement to everyone who got today or recently their results for whatever.

Contrary to what some tossers want everyone to believe exams are
NOT getting easier its just we all work bloody hard and now when everyone is happy about their results is not the time to bring it up.

Remember if you didn\'t get quite what you wanted or had hoped for, it is most certainly not the end of the world and it doesn\'t mean you are now useless. There are thousands of careers that don\'t require a silly piece of paper.

Life\'s an open box, take it, it\'s yours.

You\'d probably be right in my case. I let myself get distracted too much and didn\'t ask for help when I didn\'t understand something. Thankfully by the time I got to university I got myself sorted.

Not for everyone!!! Just think if you find them easy you\'re probably in the top 2-5% in the country either that or you\'re an arse and you\'ve never tried them and you\'re just saying what other people seem to think. No offence intended you may just be bright but don\'t put people down when we\'re all happy with what we\'ve got.

Of course not for everyone... dummy.

But they ARE getting easier because it\'s less and less acceptable for anyone to fail them.

Failing seems to be something whine and bitch about rather than something to try desperately hard to avoid.

Everything these days is moving to accommodate the lowest common denominator and it spells disaster.

If you\'re happy with what you got, why get so rowdy and worked up anyway?

Relax.

I\'m sorry, it\'s just it annoys me that people always try to claim that we haven\'t achieved anything and it\'s just the government making it easier.

Rant over.

If exam results followed a normal distribution curve, then the national A*-C pass rate would plummet. Grades can\'t keep rising exponentially - it defeats the object of having a grading system. Almost 20% of the grades given out were A??!!

GCSEs are not particularly difficult. They can be time consuming though with all the stupid coursework that\'s forced onto pupils, even though this can be prime territory for grade-enhancing jiggery pokery.

Teachers and institutions have become very adept at teaching to syllabuses and exploiting loopholes that allow them to increase exam results year on year. None of it is beneficial to students (other than them getting a certificate) as they aren\'t necessarily being taught skills or how to synthesize the information they\'re fed. They\'re just taught how to pass an exam.

Literacy rates have been in steady decline, and there is still a high proportion of innumeracy. Something is askew somewhere!

None of this is the fault of students, but things need to change so we get a better idea of how the British education system is actually functioning.

Rant over!
(From a former teacher who had a damn near 100% GCSE pass rate over 4 years....)
