I guess it\'s GD ATL night here on CMON.
This was my entry in the WH40K Large Monster/Vehicle category (Gold):

Sorry for the double posting of it, but I really couldn\'t fit it all in one image (even with 200kb). As it is, there are some details that are hard to see (like the marine parts here and there, and the \"LUKY\" on the ork\'s shoulder pad).
The wings were made along the lines of the tutorial at my site, but I also used some techniques from a Gael Goumon tutorial on dragon wings ( http://mandragoreminiatures.free.fr/sitemandragore.htm ). There\'s a fair variety of tyranid parts, but the main structure is predominately green stuff over brass rod.
The swoop in the wings is a result of the green stuff, a sense of motion I couldn\'t get with just paper as a membrane. Motion was something I really wanted to convey on this one, which explains the positioning of the legs, and the odd little tentacle thingers hanging off the end of the wings (yes, I made them and I\'m not entirely sure what they are except that they look kinda cool <g>).
Both the ork and the ripper are converted, too. I used the \"smiling\" head of a ripper since none of the rippers with an extended body had that grin. The ork\'s face was mostly sculpted (except his left eye and brow), as well as the finger and his upper left arm.
Took around 100 hours to complete, but I\'m very happy with it and would be even if it hadn\'t won anything.
I also had a tyranid malanthrope with a ripper swarm and a spore sack in the Open Category, but it didn\'t place. Not surprisingly, really, since I rushed him. I\'ll have some photos of that one once I do a bit more work on it and get it to where I wanted it to be.
